ASUS vg248qe blurry 144hz?

Post by FPSMaster » 17 Jan 2022, 08:52

I bought the asus vg248qe a couple of months ago. It has probably the best 144hz TN Monitor rating on Rtings.com. Aside of no VRR, it was stated it has good colors for a TN. It has outstanding Response Times, Input Lag, even when playing on 60HZ. But with the downside, that it has no VRR.
But I have a GTX 980Ti, so it doesnt matter.

So I bought this great monitor, and it really made a big difference in gaming. The picture was less blurry in comparison to my old DELL s2421hgf, which costs 100€ more.
(Btw, the DELL s2421hgf was a mess...
It had very bad Inversion Artifacts/Pixel Walking and I felt huge Input lag... DO NOT BUY!)

I play alot on capped 85FPS/HZ and 100HZ. And the picture looks find on that HZ. Now here is my problem:
I tested 120/144hz on ufo test, and it just doesnt look like 120/144hz...
The Blur Trail is almost non existing, but the picture itself is blurry. And there is some inversion artifacts.
Idk if its just in my mind but I wanna show you some examples. (I use optimized monitor settings from Rtings.com)

Example 1 (85HZ):

Example 2 (144hz):

I feel like there is no big improvement in Picture Clarity. There is less Blur Trail and the ufo is more "tightened". But the clarity isnt optimal.
Does this have something to do with the monitors PWM? Does it look normal to you? Let me know what you think.
