Why some people still prefer 144hz?

Post by niros » 20 Jan 2022, 00:44

Just wonder.. I saw some posts online and people either say they went back to their 144hz monitor
Or they change the refresh rate to 144hz on their 240hz monitors

Is there a truth behind it?

A 240Hz refresh rate doesn't automatically mean lower display processing latency or better overdrive performance; the majority of first-gen 240Hz panels were worse in this respect than equivalent 144Hz panels due to the fact that the same or similar panels were pushed to a much higher refresh rate without a proportionate decrease in native GtG. I.E. the panels couldn't keep up with the refresh rate increase.

That said, many of the newest 240Hz panels have caught up and are now equal or superior to their 144Hz counterparts where overdrive performance and display processing are concerned.
