Would a 5.6 ms response time and a 2.4 ms input lag be too big of a difference in competitive gaming?

So I am a pretty big competitive player and play lotta esports titles like cs val ow cod etc...

However I also play lots of graphics single player story AAA titles.

I can play on a 1080p (240 hz) monitor or 1440p (144 hz), which has 5.6 ms more response time and 2.4 ms more input lag than the 1080p monitor but ofc this 1440p monitor is still pretty good response time at 11.8 ms total while it being 1440p also allows me to game on graphics heavy games as well

Basically can I have my cake and eat it too or is the 240 hz + 5.6 response time + 2.4 input lag be "too big" of an advantage to be missing out on in your opinion?

I can get both monitors but rather just use 1440p for both comp sweaty games and for chill graphics games without too much hassle

If you are competitive you want the least amount of total input lag.
You should pick the 1080p.
1440p won't make you play better considering all the cons. Also, response time of 11,8ms is not good, should be blurry.

That's what it seems like, even if that advantage is low, its still an advantage

your reasoning seems to overlook the biggest advantage you have from using 1080p over 1440p, which is the size of the panel.
The 1440p can only be found on 27-inch screens, the full hd can also be found on 24 and the difference is huge.
Playing a shooter on a 24 inch makes you much more responsive and quicker on the eye than a 27, regardless of the response time.

27 1440p screens are suitable for those who want to do everything and do not have too many competitive pretensions, if you are one who plays to spend an hour and it makes no difference to make 5-10-20 kills in a game then 1440p is your screen, you will have the ability to play aaa single player titles with excellent sharpness.
If, on the other hand, you are a very competitive one who wants to push to the maximum in shooters you have to go to a 24-inch 1080p

Very good point usually we focus on refresh rate, response time, etc... But screen size def is a super good point since I get to see the edges and scan the screen way quicker than a 27 inch
