VGHS season 3 in 4k 48 fps

Discussion about 120fps HFR as well as future Ultra HFR (240fps, 480fps and 1000fps) playing back in real time on high refresh rate displays. See Ultra HFR HOWTO for bleeding edge experimentation.

VGHS season 3 in 4k 48 fps

Post by sharknice » 25 Jan 2014, 02:10

www.rocketjump.com/campaign

Video Game High School season 3 is being shot in 4k@48 fps. Season 2 is in 1080p@48 fps and I really enjoyed the smoother motion in the action scenes.

Can the seiki tvs or any of the other 4k tvs be set to 48hz?

With actual 4k content becoming available I might have to get one sooner than I thought.

I wish they had a 480p HFR option in their player. 720p HFR is too hard for my potato computer.
Other possibility would be to find a way to download the video and run it with vlc. I'll have to check if that's possible.

No, unfortunatly the Seiki TV's are limited to mid-30's Hz OC at 3840 x 2160p.

One line of Sony 4K TV's were able to be firmware upgraded to HDMI 2.0, allowing 60Hz for 4K however.

I'm guessing it's going to be VFR again with 24 fps during most of the filming and 48 fps only during the "video game" scenes. I wonder if the film industry will ever fully move away from 24 fps?

The kick starter backers got downloadable versions so I'm sure you could find them somewhere.
