I am open to any monitor which has the best gaming experience for me using Xbox one X my budget is probably £200, reason being I spent £1400 on a 4k hdr 10bit tv. £450 on the xbox one x and what ever my headphones cost me I forgot now.

The more I read into monitors for console gaming the more I think they will always be ghosting or blur to some degree because each monitor uses overdrive settings to try and get rid which has the reverse effects. But surely my BENQ RL2455 is not as responsive with AMA off so I see it as a waste of money and time?
The XBox One X supports a beta 120Hz upgrade and the use of 120fps at 120Hz can reduce blur/ghosting. Not many games support it yet, but you might wish to futureproof.

Does your HDTV support 120Hz? If it's a recent LG 4K OLED, it supports 120Hz during 4K and might actually work with your XBox One X too.

Indeed, most monitors won't do blur reduction with the XBox One X. On the other hand, if you don't mind CRT flicker (60Hz flickering), you could get a BenQ Zowie XL2411P and use its 60Hz strobe mode. It will have motion as sharp as a CRT when playing 60 frame per second XBox One games. Colors won't be as good but it's the lowest-blur experience you'll get with an XBox One. You may need to use Strobe Utility to tune your strobing to work better at 60Hz but it's one option.
Its the Sony 55"xe9005 I don't find it very responsive PUBG plays soo slow on the tv. XL2411p sounds interesting would that be my only option? nothing else you would recommend for the xbox one x? Will the RL2455 I have now be okay with AMA off? Thanks

Even in Game Mode?

Many console gaming monitors have their own redeeming attributes, and can be a personal preference factor

Different ghosting/blur/stutter-improving features:
(A) Whether or not to get one with more flexible overdrive settings
(B) Whether or not to get Motion blur reduction (XL2411, XL2420 and XL2720 series are your console options -- XL2411P easiest one to get)
(C) Whether or not to get 120Hz capable for upcoming 120Hz upgrade
(D) Whether or not to get FreeSync capable for upcoming FreeSynx upgrade

Often you can't get all the above simultaneously, you have to cherrypick!

But the XL2411P is close to your price range (229 pounds approx) and will satisfy two:
(1) It has optional motion blur reduction
(2) It has 120Hz capability
(3) It has low lag
Even though you won't get more overdrive settings, it will essentially behave as a better RL2455HM with more features. The overdrive will still be as bad during 60Hz (when running at only 60Hz and running with blur reduction off) but the AMA ugliness does disappear when you use blur reduction.

The currency suggests you are in UK.... Have you used a 50Hz CRT before? Did you hate it? If your eyes were comfortable with 50Hz, then you'll be probably OK with the blur reduction feature of the XL2411P.

If you prefer to get (A) more overdrive settings (C) 120Hz option and (D) FreeSync, there are other options available that doesn't have blur reduction. For example, the ViewSonic XG2401 is probably your better bet. 140 pounds is a great price for getting (A),(C),(D) even if you don't gain (B) blur reduction.

You choose. What's your priorities for (A),(B),(C),(D)? All of them fixes motion flaws in "different" ways. Which tools do you want in your toolbox?

Yes the Sony TV feels heavy if that makes sense.

Interesting read thanks for the details.

My take is RL2455 is only any good without AMA setting as in it turned off completely. But then is it much worse with input lag and responsive than with it on high ( which is unplayable for me ).

I don't actually mind abit of blur as the games I play pubg and FIFA 18 it's not massively that bad blur wise but the glow from ama is very obvious. There is no doubt that the rl2455 feels snappier with ana on high though but to what extend I'm not sure.

The only other thing is the display has no dead or stuck pixels and no backlight problems which I'm grateful for it would be sods law that I get the replacement model with issues lol

With AMA off is there any added input lag or the panel being less responsive on the RL2455?

There's no input lag worth speaking off with disabled overdrive. However, at 60Hz, disabling it usually results in ghosting. This is not an issue at 120Hz, but at 60Hz, you really want to have overdrive.

In general, with the XBX now introducing 120Hz and Freesync support, my recommendation is to wait a bit to see which monitors are verified to actually work well with it.

Hi thanks for the post!

I can't use the inbuilt overdrive setting from the RL2455 its awful. If by turning off AMA there is no or very little change with input lag or response from the panel I might just leave it at that. My understanding from reading so many posts and articals this week is at 60Hz with whatever overdrive settings it can still ghost. 120hz is a nice feature but I cant see many games supporting this at all not the top tier ones anyway :(

If the RL2455 was not as responsive or have higher input lag with AMA off I would swap it out without a doubt.

Ok thanks what about like response will the panel be less responsive with ama off???

to be honest with AMA OFF I don't see ghosting I notice a tiny bit of blur on FIFA 18 that's it alot better than going and turning ama on high or premium

Two separate things here: pixel response time and input lag.

Pixel response time does not have a real impact on input lag. AMA off makes the display's pixels less responsive. This doesn't increase input lag, but it increases blur.

Overdrive (what BenQ calls "AMA") is supposed to improve pixel response time. But it seems their overdrive algorithm in this monitor just isn't that good.

So with AMA OFF it still should be more than responsive and have good input lag?

I notice the ghosting trail a lot more than the blur, the blur I only see on the ODD occasion on fifa thats the worse players leaving a glow behind them.

There's no input lag issue with AMA off. And I don't know what "more than responsive" means. With AMA off, you get worse pixel response, meaning more motion blur, especially at 60Hz.

I don't know what else to tell you.
