Help with XSX and VRR on my Viewsonic XG240R

All newer XBOX consoles supports 120Hz+ & FreeSync. Getting help with getting "Better Than 60Hz" on the XBOX ONE, XBOX Series S, and XBOX Series X, as well as the PlayStation 5.

Help with XSX and VRR on my Viewsonic XG240R

Post by gunner7 » 13 Nov 2020, 14:25

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could answer a question that I have...I just got the XSX, and needed to go into the display settings and change "auto-detect" to HDMI, which is the only way it it allows me to check 120hz with 1080p. But, as soon as I do this, variable refresh rate become disabled and greyed out. My main question is wouldn't this monitor be compatible - it is a FreeSync monitor VRR-HDMI with a range of 20-144hz.
I read the AW2521HF is a good monitor for next-gen consoles. Can anyone confirm this or have other recommendations?

If anyone has a gaming monitor that's 25-27" and can have 1080p / 1440p with 120hz and VRR enabled on console? Can you please let me know your model? For those wondering based off my current research the odyssey g7, dell S2721DGF and the BenQ EX2780Q are what others are confirming to be compatible with the Xbox series X.

I bought the BenQ EX2780Q for my series s and can confirm it works 1440p and with variable refresh rate working. I am enjoying it a lot. Only thing I'd say it don't get your hopes up too high on the HDR side of things as the contrast just isn't there. But that would be the same for a lot of the monitors until we see better contrast ratios
