[Pursuit Camera] CRT

Many sites including LinusTechTips, RTINGS, TomsHardware, and others use the free Blur Busters pursuit camera invention. Now also available as a rail-less smartphone wave, too!

I took my CRT down from the attic and did some quick UFOs. I wanted to do close ups to better capture the motion sharpness of low persistence. Due to resolution and pixel structure reference image is not perfectly sharp like on LCDs, but it's good enough. CRT in question is Fujitsu Siemens 17P4, resolution 1200x900 @100Hz.

MPRT
I used my custom pattern to measure persistence. Display's approximate persistence will be shown as perfectly joined vertical lines with no horizontal overlapping or separation. Test was done at 4000 px/sec. From the image we can see it's close to but below 0.5 ms. Maybe somewhere between 0.3-0.5 ms.

Excellent pursuits.

That's why I nowadays say that the XG2431 can produce better motion clarity than an average computer CRT nowadays.
(At least in the five-optimize mode, after a breakin and warm up period: Refresh rate headroom + QFT mode + PureXP Custom + Custom Phase + Custom Pulse Width) can produce superior motion clarity to a CRT, especially if you target ~60-120Hz range. Even top/bottom of an XG2431 has less trailing artifacts than these CRT pursuits, at 120Hz, and all the crosstalk artifacts completely disappear at 100Hz and below.

Also XL2566K can go practically crosstalk free at 120Hz too, but you can't go much below due to min-Hz limitations of XL2566K strobing.

So can Oculus Quest 2 LCD and Valve Index LCD.

These are among the lowest-crosstalk LCD's I've seen, and I've seen them all outperform reviewer pursuits. No reviewer has done the five-optimize test on XG2431.
