Magnet? ( Not placebo)

This subforum is for advanced users only. This separate area is for niche or unexpected lag issues such as electromagnetic interference (EMI, EMF, electrical, radiofrequency, etc). Interference of all kinds (wired, wireless, external, internal, environment, bad component) can cause error-correction (ECC) latencies like a bad modem connection, except internally in a circuit. ECC = retransmits = lag. Troubleshooting may require university degree. Your lag issue is likely not EMI.

Re: Magnet? ( Not placebo)
Almost everyone confirms this to be one of the things where a change massively improves or even completely fixes any kind of lag present. This whole phenomenon is beyond PCs needs a whole entire theory. What causes any new change to be so effective and how can it be tied to anything? I still keep foil over my plugged cables and also a magnet because after the main effect diminishes, some change still remains and it's a lot more painful playing without those. These are half assed solutions but at least they work somewhat. Even the Russlan video might show a bullshit idea but you can see the screen gettting jolted from some kind of lazy mode and despite still having a shit ton of mouse lag it looks way more responsive or at least given a different kind of effect.
Re: Magnet? ( Not placebo)
The magnet may prevent EMI from traveling, blocking it. I'm not an expert yet, but I can think of similar things. By the way, it's important not to use aluminum foil, as it could cause a short circuit in your power supply.
Re: Magnet? ( Not placebo)
Can you link the exact magnet you used ?
edit : like this ? https://www.amazon.fr/PYJLBX-Couleurs-M ... r=8-7&th=1

doesnt work for meablemor wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 12:34Hi everyone, I’ve already opened a topic on the forum, but now something happened that shocked me. I bought a magnet in a store today and placed it on my computer, and all of my floating mouse movements disappeared. In CS2, I hit 4 deagle headshots, and at the end of the match, I had 71% HS ( FACEIT LV8 game ). It wasn’t placebo because I could feel that the mouse movement had changed. So, does this mean I don’t have an EMI issue but an EMF one? I’m not exactly sure about these, please help me understand why this happened. Is it because of grounding? If anyone's interested, I can record the match and send it.

for me too.i open my case and place it like the one from this picture.nothing changes.45RMS wrote: ↑01 Oct 2024, 09:19doesnt work for meablemor wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 12:34Hi everyone, I’ve already opened a topic on the forum, but now something happened that shocked me. Re: Magnet? ( Not placebo)
If it doesn't work, place it on the other side of the power supply, or try using 2-3 magnets. If none of these work, the issue is likely something else, or the magnet is too weak. It works perfectly for me and for others as well. I'm sorry I can't offer a 100% solution, but this is a proven method

sorry but proven by who ?ablemor wrote: ↑01 Oct 2024, 12:04If it doesn't work, place it on the other side of the power supply, or try using 2-3 magnets. Re: Magnet? ( Not placebo)
Magnets and other stuff was tried by many before without success. As per usual it might give temporary effect. But it stops working very soon. Dont waste your money on this problem its unsolvable. Change your mindset about it. Its not needed in your life.
Re: Magnet? ( Not placebo)
Placing a magnet on the PSU might give an effect.
As you say it changes for some time. In my case 1-2 minutes.
The thing is why does it even do that? (no one has an answer to this yet.)
There is no problem with the PC itself. In another location this isnt needed for the same "fix" effect.
The problem might be some electricity stuff or even strong RF.
But placing a magnet might act as a shield for a moment or disturb the interference.
