Desync/Input Delay/EMI/RFI/ or whatever it is

Post by stella » 30 Jun 2025, 06:40

A small history of myself Stella, Introduced to online gaming in 2010 with TF2. In 2016 stated playing Overwatch, it became my main game and my peak rank is GM. Tried multiple games in between like H1Z1, PUBG, R6 and Paladins. I was living in my Dads house, still i complete my high school.
PC Specs from 2017:
i5 7500
GTX 1050 ti
8 GB RAM
120 GB SSD

Then i started playing Apex Legends in 2019 from day 1. Apex became my main game till 2021, i had to move with my Mom for my Uni.
I hit pred in season 3 and season 4, i even did some trials for a Thai team. When I was living in my moms home, my mouse movements felt sluggish and inconsistent. I play a lot of aim training in Kovaak and i play a lot of OSU!. I can clearly feel my aim was inconsistent, it felt like i was playing with aim acceleration. The mouse movements had zero consistency. Its like playing in random sense every minute or day.
I have a bunch of mouse and mouse pads.
Mouse: (Logitech G402, 703, Razer Deathadder, Viper Mini, Orochi v2, Lamzu Atlantis V2, Lamzu Maya, HK MIRA-S, and Endgame gear OP1)
Mouse pads: (Zowie G-SR-SE, Divina G-SR-SE, Razer strider, ChengYing, Lotus Glass pad, and a bunch of Chinese brands)
I know what im doing so there is no room for Placebo.
Then i bought a new PC in 2021.
- i9 10900k
- RTX 3070
- 32 GB 3200 RAM
- 1 TB Samsung SSD
- Thermaltake 1000watt PSU
- 240hz Zowie xl2566k

list of problems i face:

1. Sluggish, Inconsistent mouse movements. Its like im moving in 30 fps or something with motion blur.
2. Mouse clicks and keyboard press has a delay so cant bhop, cant superglide, cant mantle jump, and cant superjump. A great example is, in Valorant and CS you can scroll wheel + G to carry multiple guns from one place to another, now when i throw my weapon there is a delay and, cant jump peak or strafing in the air became impossible.
3. Some of the textures became blurry or the details in the textures was never there before any temporary fix, Enemy outline become pixelated or not sharp even in low, medium and high video settings with every resolution.(tried in Multiple displays)
4. When i move the mouse from left to right it feels like im moving in 30 FPS with motion blur. Note: My laptop in uni has 60hz monitor and that mouse movement felt better than my 240hz display. (tried 60hz, 120hz, 144hz, 240hz and 280hz display with freesync Otn/Off, Vsync On/Off, FPS locked to all respective hz of the monitor with ingame FPS locker and Riva Tuner seperately).
5. Desync in movements and hit regs in all games, Valorant, Apex Legends, CS, Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, LOL and more.
6. Skip it if you dont play OSU, (when the outer circle hits the target there is a delay, the closing circle moves fame by frame, not smoothly, random lags and freeze in high bpm maps). Mouse wont move in some of the high bpm jump maps.
7. Tried blaming my network, changed 3 ISP, tried 2 Mobile Internets, (every ISP came with their own modem and router), tried different network cables (UTP came with ISP, then bought S/UTP, U/FTP and S/FTP).
8. I exchanged my friends PC and tried playing on his PC but the issue still came back within a couple of mins.
9. Desync/ inconsistent and delayed m&k inputs even in offline games.
10. Has an iphone 12, it shows random freezes and delayed keystrokes. If i press a key it takes a solid 3 seconds to register sometimes.

Possible fixes i tried with $$$$ dolla.

1. Changed the wiring for my room, took direct wiring from the Main digital sub meter, (some said digital sub-meters cause this, idk) 2.5 sq mm wire with 32A Isolator -> 32A RCCB -> 32 A 2 Pole MCB -> 16 A Power socket. all electrical products from Siemens and wire from Panasonic).
2.3 ISP with separate router, modem and cables.
3. I regret this, Sold my whole PC and bought a New one. Ryzen 7 5700X, RX 6750 XT, 32 GB 3600 RAM, Gigabyte 1 TB SSD, Thermalright 360mm cooler, Corsair 850 watt PSU) has the same problem. So new fresh PC does not change anything. So dont waste ur money.
4. Bought an EMI Filter from US, and 10 13mm Ferrites. Fixed for a couple of mins and when to trash mode.

There are many internal tweaks for a temporary fixes,

lowering CPU and RAM voltages, Disabling OC and XMP, Fresh OS install, Disabling monitor from Device manager (this one is kinda good for one valo game), lowering the clock speeds of GPU and much more. I did them all and the issue came back within a couple of games or a restart of PC.

I took my whole PC including my mouse pad and gaming chair to my friends house. Stayed there for a week and tested this thing, cuz we had the same ISP but he lives a couple of miles away. There was no Desync or inconsistent mouse/keyboard inputs. I was clicking heads and performed really good and had a good time. Played Apex reached Masters with 2K+ dmg in most of the games.
Drained why phone battery and charged it using his electricity and the phone felt good to use no, random freezes or keystroke errors.

My final Conclusion:

Electricity is the problem, it comes from the transformer... i dont think its the sub-meter. I even tested with my classmates house who lives 2 blocks next to me. My house and her house share the same Transformer line.

Possible Fix:

1. Simple, buy a power station and charge the power station with ur buddies electricity, bring it back home and play for a couple of hours. Never let your power station contact with your house electicity.

2. Buy a Solar panel of 500 to 1000 wh around 500$ (depends on the place you live) buy 2 batteries of necessary capacity and you can enjoy it all day. Same applies here don't let the batteries contact ur house electricity. Note: if your place get less sun light Good Luck Buddy.

3. Become your buddies roommate

4. Quit gaming and focus on life and touch grass everyday. Like me

Tried the 1st fix, it worked but it only lasted for 3 to 4 hours of gameplay a day. And i dont won a power station its a bit costly around 1k. So good luck with that.

2nd fix might work... ill try to do that after I get a job and make m own.

Im now in my Final year of Uni... i stopped playing games for the last 4 months.

If anyone tried the fixes, you can share it if you want. I always wanted to make a video of this whole thing but meh.

Anyways Thanks! for reading my story and have a good one!

The thing that it's the same transformer and both houses have the same issue and other one with other transformer doesn't have this issue doesn't mean it's transformer. It might be anything from other houses which are also connected to same transformer or just some wiring anomaly.
You could test that with help of power company by elimination process, but no one will agree to that unless you give them proof that it breaks the law or actually affects your hardware.
So shortly, not worth your time. Move out ASAP, unless you are extremely lucky and someone does something about it, which might take years.

hey, osu is my main game and I've been playing it since 2014

I never really talked with someone who actually play a lot of osu and is trying to fix this issue, just with some people who casually play the game

if you actually play osu a lot like around 1000 hours please add me on discord if you can: q.q.q.q2

I've been trying to fix this since 2017 and tried pretty much everything so I have many things to share especially related to osu, and I really would like to talk with someone who actually plays the game a lot because it would be easier to understand some things, recently I found out some really important information when it comes to this problem that can be seen in osu better than any other game in my opinion, so having more people to test would be great

Re: Desync/Input Delay/EMI/RFI/ or whatever it is

It might be from Transformer or any house appliances, or it could be even from the smart-meter. When I started testing it in my classmates house, I stayed there for 2 days just to make everything clear. For a couple of hours it was good (3 to 4 hours) the mouse felt snappy, then after 3 valorant games it came back. I went from 33 kills to 6 kills, the game felt slow like 0.5x speed.

The one thing I notice is that me and my neighbors all had the smart-meter from the same brand, but my friends house with no EMI uses a different brand.

Cause of this issue.
Fluorescent lights, TV, Router, Digital Clock (USB one), LED lights, Night lights, bathroom lights and Smart-meter can also cause the issue.

I tried switching off individual MCB's to check which room is the reason, but recently i figured switching it off is not enough, you have to unplug the wire for the MCB.
Main line to -> submeter then to an -> isolator or 2 pole MCB then to a ->RCCB then to individual MCB's.

I can do one more further testing, I have an Isolator after my submeter, I can unplug the line for my house and only plug in my PC line to the Isolator, in this way we can narrow it down if its from my house or its from the Transformer. I will test it this weekend, But if the problem is caused from the submeter I might be cooked, I requested the electricity board to do a replacement but the said no to me. I might be cooked cuz I cant test it by replacing the submeter, If anyone wants to try ur welcome. As @dervu said if its not from ur house or Transformer it could be caused from some of the house nearby, we will never know. And people wont fix the problem just for me to play video games.
internetexplorer4 DM me so i can add you.
Thanks!

Okay, I kinda found something... if anyone has the time or money, can try this.
The whole thing might be caused by the Transformer in your area... because I tried testing my PC in 3 of my neighbors houses and all had the same problem. We all had the same Transformer and were in the same Phase line. I haven't tried the other two phase lines.
Here is an easy way to identify the issue, and I will show you how to do it.

Warning: Do this only if you know what you are doing. Use safety gloves. Do not touch the open end of the wires.

1. Get a ferrite core Image
2. Wound a wire around the ferrite core in and out... I'll add a video
3. Then, wrap a copper wire around the whole wire (do not connect the copper wire to any of ur open ends)
4. You need to have two of these made, one for phase and one for neutral. This way you can narrow it down, if ur EMI is from phase or neutral, so you need to fix the problem.
5. When you switch, your ferrite will cause a buzzing noise in either neutral or phase. Mine is neutral.
phpBB [video]

See the video, and if you have any questions, let me know.

Every outlet in my house and my neighbour's house causes this buzzing noise in every electrical equipment, mobile charger, blender, and more.

When I checked it at my friend's house, there was no buzzing, and when I used my PC at his house, the gameplay was clean.

Now a way to minimize it, not a fix tho!

1. Buy an EMI filter, in my case, I got this one https://www.digikey.in/en/products/deta ... B/18681416
2. Since I got the buzzing from my neutral wire, I used the filter only on my neutral wire.
3. Wire from outlet >connect to the neutral end on the (Line end in the filter) > then the ferrite wire, so you can listen to the buzzing > other end of the ferrite end to the neutral end of the 3-pin plug in PSU.

Note: You need to add the ferrite-tied wire after the EMI filter, so you can see if the EMI buzzing noise has gotten lower or not.
Assume you have the buzzing noise in the Neutral line but not the live. Don't connect both live and neutral to the Filter. It won't fix or minimize.
In my case, the noise got significantly lower. But not fixed 100%

Further possible fixes to eliminate the whole issue. IDK

1. This one I'm not sure, so don't try it, but I will add it here. A power conditioner costs 2 Grand. Good luck with that. Only buy one if you have the money, and they have a refund option. If the issue is not gone, ur 2 Grand is bricked. \

2. This one might be it. (Our outlet gets AC current, and our PSU converts it to DC current), PSU is doing its job, but not eliminating the EMI here; the switching from AC to DC still produces EMI.

Try this if anyone is down: Outlet > AC to DC converter (600watt or 800watt)> DC to DC PSU >then to PC
DC to DC PSU :https://hdplex.com/hdplex-500w-hi-fi-dc ... input.html
You try the Cooler Master DC to DC PSU too.

You are going over things that people have already tried 5-8 years ago. Check older threads instead of wasting your time with this. This problem has nothing to do with EMF/EMI. I moved across several countries in Europe, total 15 apartments including a house next to Austrian alps surrounded by nothing but forest (no possible interference source nearby...). My current apartment is in a luxurious part of the city and it was built in 2015... guess what? The problem is still here. I sold my Steam Deck at the time of moving to this apartment & ordered all brand new parts for my current PC and had 0% hope that it will work but I did it anyways because my Steam Deck was malfunctioning (Not even suprised lol) I know another guy from Austria and another guy from US combined we moved around 32 places together, across several different countries & continents. Do the math and figure the % of this problem being this widespread...

Hello,
I've been playing games for about 15 years, and I’m not sure exactly when it started, but since around 2016/2017 I’ve been experiencing the same symptoms you mentioned…

As for hardware, I’ve tried everything (new monitor, keyboard, mice, PC...) — nothing ever helped, in fact, everything just made it worse.
In the BIOS, I’ve tried pretty much every setting related to the CPU (both AMD and Intel). The only thing that used to help on my old PC (Intel) was lowering the CPU Vcore and disabling XMP on the RAM.
On the PC I have now (AMD + NVIDIA), practically nothing helps — everything is either terrible or even worse.

I also tried replacing the power cables for both the PC and the monitor, but that didn’t help either (some of them even had ferrite chokes).
As for the internet, I’ve ruled that out — I’ve tried several different cables (S/UTP, U/FTP, etc.).

Hardware:
RTX 4060
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
RAM 32GB
1TB SSD

Mouse(s): Logitech G Pro X Superlight 1/2, Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro, Razer Viper V3 Pro
Keyboard: Logitech G PRO X TKL Rapid
Monitor: BenQ XL2546 240Hz

For several years I’ve been playing exclusively CS:GO/CS2 — I currently have a bit over 3k ELO on Faceit, but most of it is thanks to game knowledge, grenade lineups, timings, etc.
My aim has been terrible for years, precisely because of these issues.
I also used to play prime H1Z1 (Royalty), LoL (Master), Valorant for a little bit(immortal).

I don’t know about you, but to me personally, it feels like the more powerful the hardware, the worse the problem gets.
I'm in my final year of university and I’m considering quitting competitive gaming for good (or atleast until I move out, cause i blame electricity at this point), because playing in this state brings me no joy at all — it's just frustrating.

I feel your pain.

Multiple issues can have overlapping symptoms. No wonder people attach everything to EMI/RFI when they can't exclude things one by one.
One guy will not fix moving 30 times, other will do it at first time. They might not have same issue, but similiar symptoms.
