ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP 1440p 480Hz WOLED

High Hz on OLED produce excellent strobeless motion blur reduction with fast GtG pixel response. It is easier to tell apart 60Hz vs 120Hz vs 240Hz on OLED than LCD, and more visible to mainstream. Includes WOLED and QD-OLED displays.

ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP 1440p 480Hz WOLED

Post by Brutek_Vladimir » 25 Sep 2024, 09:47

1440p 480Hz WOLED matte coating
Owner since 13.09.2024

Great for gaming (shocking right?), i come from benq xl2566k 360hz.
For desktop work not so much, despite being 2nd gen with new RGWB layout. Its better, but still not there.
If you know some tips for better readability of text in windows, im one ear.

Edit:
Monitor stand is one of worst i had, too much precious room on table is gone. Asus users will know. Use 3rd party stand imo.
Some bugs in OSD. Monitor "forget" power led is set to off after power out.
Some oled care settings turn back on after power cycle aswell.
Didnt made me a beast in comp gaming, but single player games are a lot more immersive for me.
1080p@360hz TN to 1440p@480hz OLED
My experience so far.

For this type of thread, be sure to post it in: 'General — Displays, Graphics & More' and not in News.

I was looking to purchase this monitor, but the reviews of desktop/text clarity seems to be mixed. Some people say it looks great, some people say it's not as clear as TN/IPS etc. I guess I'll wait until further progress is made.

Also, if you put it to 24.5" mode, is the text clarity better or worse?

Asus needs to seriously reconsider their stand designs. They are awful. They are cutting costs on them like no tomorrow.

@Chief Blur Buster

As for text clarity 24.5" mode doesnt matter OLED subpixel layout is culprit.

I've resisted the urge several times with this monitor. The biggest reason being they decided to use Display port 1.4 They, Asus, must have a ton of DP 1.4 components they need to get rid of before going to DP 2.1 Even my GPU has DP 2.1 ffs

DSC sucks. In order to reduce power draw while not gaming and reduce panel heat I have to swap refresh rates down to 300Hz. It won't change with 480Hz but still cmon DP 1.4? lol and yes that horrendous stand .. so when you put the monitor in your cart the next page has 'addons' for your purchase and one of them is a $199 monitor 'arm' lol. You ever see how cattle are herded into an area by fencing? reminds you of the same thing. You can just hear the sales team. "Use a shitty monitor stand with it then we'll try n sell them an overpriced monitor arm" lol cunts

New firmware: MCM103
I'd be hesitant with updating. According to this post over at RTINGS.com, MCM103 brings more regress than progress. Also the review at RTINGS.com is not exactly positive about this firmware (they ran their tests with MCM103):
RTINGS.com wrote:It has bugs that can negatively impact your gaming experience, as settings randomly change or don't work at all, so it may be worth waiting until these get fixed with a firmware update before buying the monitor.

I updated to MCM103 via usb stick around 14. october and didnt experience these errors.
I dont use BFI/ulmb since XL2411T, because of eyestrain.
