I still believe that years from now, after people have spent billions on 500-1000hz panels, that I will be vindicated in declaring any monitor relying on DSC as a meme since it’s heavy ass cursor movement is identical on every single monitor I’ve used with it turned on thus far.
Has there been input lag test done about this? (LDAT/ high speed camera/reflex equipped monitor/...)
I mean, it’s not that hard to test yourself since there are monitors like the XG27AQMR that let you toggle it on and off in the OSD. This is something you don’t need any fancy machinery to test because the difference is pretty noticeable toggling back and forth where you’re definitely going to like how it feels better off.

Blurbuster man says it might just be bad implementation but I think it’s an inherent DSC problem since the behavior is identical on every single monitor I’ve tried with it. As for actual measurements, it’s slightly anecdotal, but the HP 27QS and LG 27GR83Q-B both use similar BOE panels with the HP not using DSC while the LG does. RTINGS reviewed both and the HP has lower input lag. Don’t think anyone has actually benched it on and off on a monitor like XG27AQMR. It’s not something I personally need to bench as it feels unplayable turned on to me.

So my prediction is that you will see people in the competitive scene either fail to adopt new monitors like the Asus 540hz at all, or the people that do use it will probably underperform. And this will be the first sign of time for engineering to go back to the drawing board.

Oh it's that big a difference? This absolutely needs to be measured rigorously then!

On topic:

Can't wait for reviewers to experience 480HZ OLED.
I just hope they will test it fairly and feed the monitor with a stable 480fps to get the full effect.
Hopefully dispelling the "the eyes can't see more than x fps" myths.

There are millions of people out here claiming they cannot see above 30 FPS or even 20 FPS.

That's why I invented www.testufo.com ten years ago.

But it's also why there's so small a difference 240-vs-480 on LCD, but when you re-run www.testufo.com on 480Hz OLED, the difference between 120fps UFO and 480fps UFO is so shockingly huge. Very clear 4x motion blur difference during "eye tracking the movements/pan/scroll/turn" situation.

Sadly, some LCDs are so slow that 30-vs-60 is much less than a 2x difference, and people make bad assumptions. I started Blur Busters as mythbusters from people who interpret display limitations (And game software limitations) as the exact same claims. Even 360Hz displays can useless without proper content to drive them. But the fact is content exist, that even the mainstream can see. Right Content for Right Job.

Speaking of that, wouldn't it be time to change the default testufo speed to something higher?

I mean, motion is typically much faster (especially in video games). And on top of that, higher resolutions like 1440p and 4K are becoming much more common in the high refresh rate monitor market.

Hello roach

If the bottom line is that dsc is shit and most new oleds will use it

Can you name a good monitor for competetive games?

Should I consider benq new xl2546x/xl2548x?
Or another model that already exists and available!

Im using very old tn 144hz and want to upgrade

I want to see a pursuit shot of the 480HZ OLED running a UFO at 60 FPS

I want to see how close we are to CRT running 60HZ @ 60 FPS

I’ve tried like 10 monitors in the last two months and each one either has 1). INSANELY HIGH EYE STRAIN 2). Sluggish cursor movement or 3). Both.

There’s a very high chance whatever you buy will be worse than what you already have (144hz TN panels aren’t exactly slow).

These ASUS monitors w/ BFI are beginning to look like such a treat. Any information on ELMB on the new 32in ASUS QD-OLED releasing soon? It will be very telling if they’re limited to 120hz like their ultrawides. Would essentially confirm 1/2 max refresh rate BFI for all upcoming ASUS OLED monitors. Gone are the days of full refresh w/ BFI.
