LG 27" 1440p 240hz OLED Ultragear 27GR95QE

High Hz on OLED produce excellent strobeless motion blur reduction with fast GtG pixel response. It is easier to tell apart 60Hz vs 120Hz vs 240Hz on OLED than LCD, and more visible to mainstream. Includes WOLED and QD-OLED displays.

I bought the LG 27GR95QE-B monitor less than a week ago and it has three firmware errors:

1) If I set the color depth level to anything higher than 8-bit (10/12-bit) when setting a game to full screen, the monitor switches to 4k/120hz resolution instead of 1440p/240hz. ( I was able to fix this by removing the 4k resolution with the CRU tool)

2) From time to time, the monitor does not redirect hdmi audio to the speakers connected by the H/P output, I have to power cycle the monitor to temporarily mitigate the problem.

3) I can clearly see bright flickering when G-sync is activated, I know it can be "remedied" by limiting fps, but this problem seems strange to me since gsync is supported, this is the most annoying bug.

The monitor's firmware is updated to the latest version and I am using the built-in HDMI 2.1 cable in the package.

Do you think they will fix these bugs through a firmware update? or should i return the monitor? It seems very expensive to have all these problems.

Does anyone else have these problems?

It's explained in a comment on this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comme ... incorrect/

Can anyone with this monitor confirm that there is or there is not overshoot with this monitor at 60 Hz on the latest firmware version?

Yes, there is excess at 60hz with the latest version of the firmware.

Also, have one doubt, what's the average expectancy lifetime before burn in? Was looking the use hours of the 27gl850b and we have at home an average of 15 hours daily, 16.500 hours in 3 years

Hope is nothing like 5.000 hours or so, because then I would return it tomorrow lol
Using the monitor 15 hours/day..365 days/year? Sounds like my teenage years during the vanilla WoW days... not healthy lol

Yes, on my 27gr95qe running firmware 3.08, 1.17 there is no visible overshoot at 60hz

Image
(used a non-pursuit photo to show the lack of overshoot more clearly)

I've seen a lot of mixed results online about this, even rtings says that there's still overshoot on their unit, but I assume they just had issues updating theirs or maybe there was even a hardware revision? Either way, there's definitely zero visible overshoot on my unit.

By the way, has anyone been able to save adjustments to the service menu on this monitor? There's a setting called CPC (Convex Power Control) forced on in the service menu which dims the image the further away it is from the centre of the screen, and I think that's the reason why so many people have said the monitor looks dim.
I normally calibrate my monitors to 100 nits, so I didn't think the brightness would be an issue on this monitor for me, but I have found it quite dim, especially with console games for some reason.
Disabling CPC makes the image way brighter, it makes much more of a difference than I thought it would, but it turns itself back on again every time the monitor turns off. I could kind of circumvent this by making an arduino send the set of inputs needed to toggle CPC with an IR led, so I plan on looking into this soon.

I might also email LG about this, just to see if there's any reason at all for this setting being enabled and I'll suggest disabling it or adding an option in the user menu in a firmware update. They probably won't do anything about it, but it's worth a shot I guess.

Hi, got this monitor like 3 days ago and I'm experiencing weird FAN NOISE and also high peached squeaking. It's noticebale when my speakers are off.
Does anybody experience that too?
I'm wondering if I should ask for replacement unit because I don't think this is normal. I am worried it can get even worse in my replacement unit.

Hi, did you found anything about how to save settings in service menu?

Sadly not, I think the best option would probably be to have an arduino or similar device play back the inputs required to turn it on or off, like a macro. If I ever get round to doing that, I'll update the post here.
