When playing a low graphically intense game that is keyboard only and can run above 500fps, which would have the competitive advantage?
With the Aw2524h boasting 500hz and .5 gtg, would the OLEDs faster pixel response compete in input lag dependent / twitch reaction type games? Or would the 500hz vs 240hz blow it out of the water?
Saving up for one of the two and having a hard time deciding as outside of that niche game the OLED experience sounds great for everything else. Curious the difference competitively.

I am also in your same situation. The smoothness and clarity of the 500hz will definitely help in competitive shooters and it intrigues me tremendously. At the same time, however, I got a little bored with 1080p and bad colors. I was able to appreciate an Oled panel, having a Panasonic JZ1500 TV and I was delighted.

If you dislike strobing, and want "least blur per frametime", then OLED is the best performer. Removed from significant GtG bottlenecks, 240fps on OLED pretty much follows Blur Busters Law linearly (Every 1ms of frametime translates to 1 pixel of motion blur per 1000 pixels/sec).
Now, if you like strobing, LCD still outperforms at the moment. And you can use brute Hz in esports -- the 360Hz TN panels and the 500Hz LCDs has a brute Hz and latency advantage, so 500Hz will still be more performant in esports. However, 240Hz OLED is surprisingly close to 500 Hz LCD in motion handling (non-strobed).

Hey Chief, have you seen the Asus PG27AQN? ( 360hz 1440p IPS ) The UFO test looked pretty darn good from what I saw in a review. I'm in a similar position as OP, coming from an AW2518h TN 240hz, I'd like to move into something newer in the 27" 1440p range. OLED is intriguing but I've heard such good things about this 360hz Asus IPS panel and how smooth games feel across the refresh range. Granted most titles don't run at 360fps aside from the usual esports ones. I'm quite torn on the upcoming Asus OLED and this 360hz IPS Panel. If you run lower frame rates, 100fps on OLED has less motion blur than 100fps on any 360Hz LCD (Even XL2566K). Now that said, about tapedelay latency (display processing behavior) independent of pixel response latency (pixel transition lag), 360Hz LCD will generally have less lag than a 240Hz OLED, even if the motion is not always clearer for eye-tracking-based situations.

Very good information! The only reason OLED isn't a slam dunk for me ( yet ) is I do dabble in some high fps titles where 360hz would be utilized, however, I do play other titles where frame rates are in the 200-300 range. I also feel a bit more pull towards 360hz because I've been using 240hz for so many years it would be nice to make the jump up as long as there is little motion blur and the games are smooth. Just like the first 240Hz LCD kinda felt worse (in some ways) than the world's best 144Hz LCDs at the time, these are the very first 240Hz OLEDs. Very, very strong debut -- especially considering some vendors are launching at three-figure pricing!
If you upgrade often or keep 2 or 3 monitors around, then 240Hz OLED should be part of your monitor palette this year. But if you focus on competitive esports and want to stick with LCD, then some 360Hz+ models are ultra-tempting and more latency performant (at the moment).
Remember, going to 1440p will often lower frame rates below 360fps, so keep this in mind when buying 1440p 360Hz instead of 1080p 360Hz. More resolution often reduces frame rates.

Thanks for the reply Chief! I wanted to ask you a question about the two new 1440p@240hz oled monitors, therefore the LG and Asus model. Asus' PG27AQDM lacks HDMI 2.1 ports, forcing you to use displayport 1.4. Do you think that for this resolution, refresh rate and HDR10 it is penalizing to buy Asus and use a DisplayPort? had the Asus OLED for 1 day..
Sure the motion clarity was second to non, but not worth the money. So I returned it.
Im now back at my LG27GN950 (160hz 4K IPS).. Looks amazing but lacks the motion off course.
Looking for a LCD wirh better motion clarity... 1440p is fine.. Any suggestions?
