Dell Announce New Alienware 27″ 1440p 360Hz and 32″ 4K 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitors

High Hz on OLED produce excellent strobeless motion blur reduction with fast GtG pixel response. It is easier to tell apart 60Hz vs 120Hz vs 240Hz on OLED than LCD, and more visible to mainstream. Includes WOLED and QD-OLED displays.

Dell Announce New Alienware 27″ 1440p 360Hz and 32″ 4K 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitors

The 360hz model will be very interesting because of OLED's sub 1ms pixel response time, so it wont ghost as bad as current the LCD offerings.
This model will probably make fast-IPS and TN panels obsolete once and for all, and if the tech remains progressing this fast then by 2025 I wouldnt be surprised if we see 500hz OLEDs.

Surprised there isn’t more hype about these monitors on this forum.. What “real” advantages can we see from 360hz or even 480hz OLEDs vs 240hz? Anyone care to explain? At what point are enough frames “enough” on OLED? :D

Significantly less motion blur for starters. Check out Optimum Tech's review of the upcoming 540 Hz TN Asus - 240 Hz OLED is a blurry mess in comparison, and the Asus ain't perfect either. Obviously the higher Hz can also give smoother experience with slightly less input lag, but it's subjective how well you can spot the differences. It will be definitely interesting to see how close the 360 Hz QD-OLED can get in comparison to the new TN panel.

Don't really understand the hype for this 360Hz OLED. New eTN 540Hz will be better motion clarity wise (even without BFI), will have less input lag (due to higher Hz), better visibility thanks to the higher brightness and LCD "greyish colors", and lastly better format (25" 1080p > 27" 1440p for comp games).

Brightness on OLED remains mediocre and insufficient, not even mentioning the risk of burn in, especially when playing FPS with the same HUD displayed for hours.

Of course for any other activities such as AAA solo games, movies etc OLED will be better, but such Hertz (360+) clearly aims toward competitive FPS games and for this usage there is just no reason to consider anything else than upcoming LCDs 540Hz.

Turns out not everyone wants pure performance if it means garbage picture quality. Your last paragraph answers your own question.

"semi-competitive" games like battlefield, cod etc look great on oled and benefit a lot from high refresh rate

Even racing games look great on high refresh rate and on oled

I was gonna go for PG248QP but then I remembered I play these games as well. Now I'm gonna wait. Hopefully it's below AUD$2.5k
lastly better format (25" 1080p > 27" 1440p for comp games).
This is totally subjective. I would go for 27" 1440p over the other wherever possible

But what if you can't reach the 360hz in 1440p on the new Oleds won't they be a stuttering mess?

When you play a competitive game all you want regarding the picture is great visibility, and OLED is mediocre in that aspect. If you are interested in a 360Hz display it means you plan to play and invest time into competitive games. Fur such usage OLED cannot be considered because of its visibility and risk of burn in (really high on a FPS game with the same HUD displayed for hours). So I don't really see for who OLED 360Hz are meant for.
