1$ fix for 90% eyestrain on ips panels

Post by technicalitch » 25 Jul 2024, 14:34

method:

i know its funny but seriously its working and light is acting completely different than just lowering brightness. its more smooth and pleasant to eye and i was able to play high hz games finally for some more minutes without hardcore pain in pupil. i know its fix that wont make you work on it everyday but if you have some hard job to do and you have only hardcore eyestrain monitor it can work for you.

and remember pain is less funny than the method so test it on your own.

No, it's not funny. It's actually a thing. Not as popular nowadays, but in the 90s, a lot of people were using anti glare filter screens on their CRTs, but not just for the glare, but to also lower eye strain as well:

You can probably still find them, but they appear to be rare these days.

Even though they were all over the place in stores and many showcase monitors had them installed, I actually never examined one, lol. So I don't know what they're made of and how they work.

Maybe Chief knows.

ok but if our CRT monitor has the onboard of purple's glass, we don't need to use any screen filter. 🙂

These antiglare filters are a big help to some people, so legit.

However, they do NOT solve everybody's eyestrain issue -- YMMV.

Same thing for things like orange filters and computer glasses (orange tinted sunglasses, aka a physical Low Blue Light mode)

You can give these a try, as low-lying apple fixes.

There are, again, over 100 different triggers for eyetrain/nausea/headache from screen technologies, and filters won't cover the whole gamut of possibilities.

YT video was removed for violating the rules. Do you, by any chance, know if this is available somewhere else?

I don't have the video but I can tell you from memory that on the video @technicalitch just puts a sheet of paper in front of the screen. Just a normal a4 printing paper(you might need 2 of them or a bigger piece), surprisingly it doesn't fall off from the monitor and is transparent enough that you can clearly see everything.

I often do not clearly state my thoughts. google translate is far from perfect. And in addition to the translator, I myself am mistaken. Do not take me seriously.

If I remember correctly he specifically used tracing paper over his monitor. I have read from other forums that tracing paper over a display can scatter and almost cancel out polarized light which some seem to be sensitive to.
