1. Can hardware/GPU that dont support 4k monitor cause eyestrain?
2. Why nobody with small monitors (up to 19") complain about eyestrain, maybe problem is because we seat too close to big screens?
3. Which panel tehnology is best for eyestrain?
I have 27inch 4K IPS , and get eyestrain after 10minutes of reading
Why I never heard that TV cause eyestrein, maybe because distance from TV screen is huge( at least 3x screen size), maybe is TV screen the key for solve this problem?

Re: Monitor eyestrain
I just noticed this thread has no replies. I'll be brief, as there are now many threads in a brand new Display Comfort forum here to answer your questions.Eyestrain 1 wrote: ↑03 Dec 2023, 03:531. Can hardware/GPU that dont support 4k monitor cause eyestrain?

1. Big rabbit hole here.
- GPU framerate can be a factor; e.g. low framerate vs high framerates.
- Some are bothered by low frame rates
- Some are bothered by high frame rates
- Some are bothered by stroboscopics unless they turn "GPU Blur Effect" on.
- Some say temporal dithering (8bit->10bit, or 6bit->8bit) can bother them.
- More scientific research needed on all the nuances;
2. Yes, bigger screens, viewing distance, and bigger FOV is a known trigger.
But it's only one of over 100+ triggers.
- It can be personal sensitivity to backlight type (e.g. color spectrum of a specific backlight like NanoIPS or LED-vs-CCFL)
- It can be PWM effects
- It can be brightness and other factors
3. Big rabbit hole here.
- I've seen people bothered by all screens
- I've seen people bothered by LCD but not OLED
- I've seen people bothered by OLED but not LCD
- I've seen people bothered by certain OLED but not another OLED
- I've seen people bothered by certain LCD but not another LCD
- Etc.
