Eyestrain and headeche from mobilephones and screens

Post by TankTopBilly » 01 Feb 2024, 17:02

Hi guys.

I have struggled with eyestrain and headeche for the last 3-4 years. Also if I use one of these phones for an hour, I can't sleep that night..I've read a lot about pwm, but don't know (or believe) this is the problem. I feel I struggle when I use a good screen with high quality.

These screens have caused problems:

lg 27gp83b-b

Samsung Galaxy S23
Samsung Galaxy Flip 5
Xiaomi 13T
iPhone 14

Screens that I use now without problem

iPhone 11 pro max
Xiaomi Mi curved monitor 34inch (yes that's the name of it)

Other monitors at work with low quality (ex. HP Compaq la2306x etc).

I've been to the eyesdoctor several times, and I have no problems. I have good vision or something bad.

Although I considered the Xiaomi mi monitor a "good quality screen", it was not as good as the lg monitor. The Xiaomi 13t was supposed to be good for pwm sensetives, but was not the case for me.

Please help me :(

I've bought a lot of new monitors and only one I've found with without huge eye strain is the new 1440p 240hz BOE panel. There's also lots of new, old stock 1080p 144hz - 280hz monitors floating around that use a-SI panels without wide gamut that are probably much easier to look at than these "thin film" "fast ips" with wide gamut.

Try using something like Darker (Screen Filter app on android). This will allow you to increase the brightness of the phone to 100% (via brightness slider from the top drop down menu) but the app will lower the actual brightness of the screen to something like 50/60% (whatever you set it to).

Hope that helps.

Can you list some models of the 240hz BOE 1440p and the a-SI ones?

Is the dough 240hz IPS BOE?
