Links Opening in same tab?

First of all I have links set in my browser to open to a new tab, why does it open a link e.g. a youtube link in the same tab?

I guess some sites will intercept your click and load the link in the same tab.
I have my browser configured to open links in a new tab when I do a middle-click. Seems to work everywhere.

I can click on a link on other forums and it will open them up in a new tab.

Future changes to this forum will open exernal links to a new tab.
I've added it to our internal bug tracking system.
