Samsung G5 G52A PWM blurring (?)

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

Samsung G5 G52A PWM blurring (?)

Hi there, I'm a new user and wanted to share my experience with a Samsung 27" IPS 1440p monitor that I've been using for around 7 months now. Overall, I haven't encountered any significant issues with it. Occasionally, there is some one-sided backlight flickering, but it's infrequent and doesn't cause any major problems.

Recently, while scrolling through Google search results, I noticed that the same result seemed to be displayed multiple times in this image: https://i.imgur.com/wZKRa4u.jpg. To investigate further, I went to testufo. Typically, I have Freesync turned on with a brightness level of 32 and Black Equalizer set to 13. Here's how the ufo appeared: https://i.imgur.com/mwuHdMu.jpg Pretty bad.

I attempted adjusting the settings by increasing the brightness to 100 and setting the Black Equalizer to 1 (brightest backlight). While this improved the ufotest image slightly, it still wasn't ideal: https://i.imgur.com/aghBNxE.jpg

I also tried experimenting with other settings, but I couldn't achieve a result where only a single ufo showed up in my phone camera picture. When I changed the response time from "Faster" to "Fastest," I noticed ghosting at the highest brightness setting. On the other hand, setting it to Extreme (MBR) caused the brightness to lock, resulting in a worse appearance of the ufotest image.

I haven't noticed any blurring in games so far, except for a weird effect in Elden Ring and Conan Exiles that seems to illuminate most moving objects/edges against the background, but that could be an entirely unrelated thing. In this case it's like a glowing effect around my character, in conan: https://i.imgur.com/DkeE24B.png Elden Ring: https://i.imgur.com/fP3uDAo.png

I'm wondering if there's anything else I could try to improve the situation or if that's the best this monitor can achieve.

I've got a similar problem.

I think that the Extreme(MBR) has a busted implementation. When i turn it on for the map scrolling, i get a double image until halfway down the screen, followed by a good image. Perhaps its vsync related.
