nevermind, got it back again by changing scaling to "none" on display, for some reason my settings got changed to aspect ratio.

Again, try 8-bit instead of 12-bit. Worked for me, even before the driver update.liquidshadowfox wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023, 11:38I'll keep testing but man I'd hate to give up the 360 hz for valorant... Hopefully they roll out a new driver that fixes these issues in the future.
This is a 10-bit panel, so 12-bit will only add dithering anyway, and most games are still 8-bit as-is.

Yea, I'm testing currently with 8 bit with DSC and 360 hz. As of right now it still has issues switching from ULMB 2 to Gsync with per game profiles. For example, I start with global Gsync profile, then hop on league and it switches to ULMB 2 after turning off the screen twice (ok I'll take it) but it works. Then when I end the game and go back to desktop there's like a 50% chance Gsync will re-engage or it'll turn white LED where it's just fixed refresh with ULMB 2 turned off.
Re: Headaches of the Asus PG27AQN from an Asus XG27AQMR owner
I wasn't referring to your ULMB2 switching issue, I was referring to the random black screens; 8-bit fixed that for me before and after the driver update.liquidshadowfox wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023, 13:57Yea, I'm testing currently with 8 bit with DSC and 360 hz. As for seamlessly/automatically switching from ULMB2 to G-SYNC and visa-versa per game, good luck. That's never worked out on any monitor I've had them on, with or without DSC. I've personally always had to manually switch modes before launching a game every time I wanted to use either.
Closest I've gotten to "auto" between the two modes on the PG27AQN, is by enabling the ULMB2 option in the monitor settings when G-SYNC is disabled. That way, whenever I enable G-SYNC in the NVCP globally, ULMB2 disengages, and whenever I disable G-SYNC, ULMB2 applies again when in "Fixed Refresh" mode, which the NVCP defaults to when G-SYNC isn't enabled.
I'm honestly not even sure if the legacy "ULMB" (non-2) option in the NVCP even works properly for ULMB2 in all cases. "Fixed Refresh" should be enough.

The ULMB option in NVCP works and switches between Gsync and ULMB with less issues as long as you use the monitor at 240 hz with DSC turned off, the moment DSC gets turned on it starts having all these issues. Maybe I'll try using the fixed refresh option and see if that works better.

Do you happen to know what the "Soft controls" option exposed through DDC VPC codes is? Trying to programmatically change between two inputs but I can't seem to do so using my DDC app for that, only brightness and contrast so far.
The tip about using Fixed refresh works well, I haven't had any weird issues yet but I'll keep testing and see if it holds up.

Nope.liquidshadowfox wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023, 15:48Do you happen to know what the "Soft controls" option exposed through DDC VPC codes is?
Here's hoping it sticks then.liquidshadowfox wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023, 15:48The tip about using Fixed refresh works well, I haven't had any weird issues yet but I'll keep testing and see if it holds up.

Re: Headaches of the Asus PG27AQN from an Asus XG27AQMR owner
Also, regarding my comment about bit depth, I rechecked the manual, and there's a reason we're experiencing issues on the PG27AQN when forcing higher than 8-bit at 1440p 360Hz; 10/12-bit apparently isn't fully supported in that scenario, so we're running out of bandwidth, even with DSC.
From the manual: As such, HDR mode at 360Hz 1440p probably only achieves 10-bit via 8-bit + FRC.
Anyway, just a "good to know."

Re: Headaches of the Asus PG27AQN from an Asus XG27AQMR owner
So far your suggestion is holding up. Yea I figured it must have been a bandwidth limit, I never thought I'd see the day I say "I wish this had hdmi 2.1" lol but here we are. Luckily I usually only use 8 bit colors anyways since most games I play don't really benefit or even support higher colors really and HDR is not worth it unless you are on oled or mini led with at least 1000 zones.

Yup, pretty much.liquidshadowfox wrote: ↑23 Oct 2023, 06:06Luckily I usually only use 8 bit colors anyways since most games I play don't really benefit or even support higher colors really and HDR is not worth it unless you are on oled or mini led with at least 1000 zones.
