Multiple Images when moving the camera fast

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

Multiple Images when moving the camera fast

Post by linegrinder » 14 Jan 2024, 10:01

I recently got my hands on a new Monitor the PG27AQN. I have turned off G-sync in order to enable ULMB2.

I have noticed that ingame when I move my camera very fast in FPS games there are a lot of multiple images of one object. I don't believe it to be ghosting or after images as the multiple images appear to be exactly as clear as the others. See image attached. I have also noticed that on higher refresh rates 360hz I can see more of these images compared to moving the camera when I set the monitor to 144hz.
Is this normal or can I do something about it?

I have tried various configurations:
- Gsync off, ULMB2 on, Vsync on ingame, 240hz
- Gsync on, ULMB2 off, Vsync off ingame ( and off in nvidia control panel), 360hz.

However all configurations seem to have this multiple after images effect.
Is this normal or is there a way to eliminate this?

Yeah, this is normal. Some monitors are better at this than others. See https://blurbusters.com/faq/advanced-st ... stalk-faq/
