CRU Tool Black Screen

Post by schnip » 18 Sep 2014, 12:14

Hey Guys,

I lightboosted my Acer Predator 270XBH using the CRU Method. I would like to add a Hertz number unequal to 100,110,120 so that i can turn off lightboost "on the fly". When i add 144 Hertz to the monitor supported refresh rates it just goes black the next reboot and i have to revert to <120 even though its a 144 Hertz monitor.

What can i do to make it work? I tried LCD Reduced preset.

Try adding 144Hz again, but using Reduced Blanking. When you add 144Hz, you must use Reduced Blanking mode, not Auto or GTF. Otherwise it goes black.

If you want something easier, ToastyX Strobelight can do it. It does it via the unequal refresh rate technique.

Although Strobelight cannot initialize LightBoost on the Acer; but once you've successfully turn on LightBoost, then Strobelight can be used afterwards to turn it ON/OFF (ON/OFF/ON/OFF works). You just have to trick LightBoost to turn on via other methods, but once LightBoost is successfully on, then Strobelight works thereafter until the monitor is unplugged from power.
