ASUS VG248QE Lightboost Color profile [fixes purple tint]

Hey there,
I have had this monitor for quite some time and I only recently thought about sharing this:

It is a color profile I created a while ago with the Spyder Pro for Lightboost. It uses a white point of 6500K and gamma of 2.2 (target). In the OSD I have set contrast to 50 for the best picture.

White Point 6500K, gamma 2.2 (target) as usual.

This is essentially the same post as in the Blur reduction forums.

Edit: I almost forgot (since I am using Spyder Software that does this) that it is not enough to select the color profile. You will also need to load the LUT table into your GPU. This can be done using a third party "LUT-Loader" or through Windows color management.
See here for details on how to activate Win7 LUT management:

As I sad earlier, most Fullscreen Applications will override this.

Solution 1:
Borderless windowed, this is a Window that looks exactly like fullscreen since border are removed and it covers the entier screen. My favourite applications are:

http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/39550/?

Solution 2:
There are third party applications that can prevent this. Easiest method is using a hardware calibration device such as the Spyder4pro that comes with software to do this.

Slightly more complicated but free:

Edit:
Here are some other programs that prevent 3d fullscreen applications from overriding the profile:

Note: use only one color profile program, they might interfere with each other

They should work in theory but I had limited success with locking the profile. Might be because they interfered with my spyder software (see note above)

If you have more questions feel free to ask.

Hello Razorless,

I see you haven't had followups in a while, so I'm going to reply: Thanks for posting this!

This greatly helps people to fix the purple tint, on older LightBoost monitors, especially the 24" models that get the purple tint.

Thanks for reminding me. I tried it out but it didn't work. Might have collided with the spyder app so i disregarded this. I updated the OP and added another profile keeper.

@chief: You're welcome. I see you edited the title and it makes senes. Getting rid of the purple tint may be the biggest benefit of this. Calibration is about the first thing I do so I quickly forgot about the purple tint.

What Lightboost percentage was used for this calibration? Also, will this work with 100Hz Lightboost?

Is there anyway I could contact you to get kind of a step by step of how you calibrated your monitor using the spyder pro?

I just got mine in the mail and am having a couple different issues. Namely, when I set the contrast to 50 before the test I can't get the backlight level to where they want it.

@ jonny
I used LB 10%

@ clow
When using Lightboost @10% you cannot achieve the brightness the spyder suggests, but it is not really important so don't worry about it too much.

Be sure to check the following:
- Set white LED for panel type
- normal color range
- uncheck options for color/contrast/brightness settings for your screen (so spyder thinks you cannot change settings on your screen)
- There should be a setting for "factory brightness" or similar that let's you use whatever brightness your screen achieves

Should you have more questions you can PM me (I think PM is only possible when you have 5 or more posts) or simply ask in this thread since it is related to the topic
