You can adjust OVERDRIVE (Tracefree) "gain" in Lightboost mode on the VG248QE.
While tracefree is disabled in 3d mode, the 'gain' for tracefree is still accessible through the service menu.
To enter service menu: power off, hold menu (button 3) while pressing the power button, release menu when the asus logo is bypassed,
then press menu to enter service menu, go to OD gain (lightboost uses per line overdrive, so it uses max tracefree at default), and change OD gain (overdrive gain) to a value between 00 and 0F hex (00-15 decimal).
Going to 0C will remove all of the inverse ghosting at the BOTTOM of the screen (on testuFO's alien invasion) but will add some (minor) inverse ghosting at the TOP of the screen. It basically 'inverts' how the bottom and top of the screen look, in comparison to 0F, on some color transitions.
the default (0F) has the top of the screen perfect with some minor inverse ghosting at the bottom of the screen.
There is no benefit at all to setting OD gain below 0B (11); it just makes everything worse with more ghosting and no benefit. 0C to 0F give the best results.
(by comparison, Benq blur reduction with VT 1502 tweak has normal ghosting at the bottom (before the offscreen strobe pulse settling errors and inverse ghosting at the top (before the top inverse settling errors, which is fully offscreen with strobe duty 003 or lower and strobe phase 000); lightboost 100hz has the top strobe settling errors FULLY offscreen while lightboost 120 hz has the top very similar to benq blur reduction with minor settling errors at the top (equivalent to strobe duty 004+strobe phase 000@VT 1502).
Now if only Benq allowed us fine overdrive adjustments in 16 values like Asus does in service menu....(or at least implemented per line overdrive... :/); having a longer range of AMA settings in BBR mode is completely useless if you don't have per line overdrive...(since you would destroy one side of the screen by fixing the other...)
Nice secret for VG248Q Lightboost users (Benq, take notice)

would something similar be possible with the gsync modded vg248qe?

The asus scaler is replaced by the gsync module so the entire asus hardware is gone (no tracefree, nothing), so, impossible.

unless we go inside and mess with the fpga and stuff
