Newer XB270HU's Now have 120hz ULMB, 3dvision Possible?

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

So now that XB270HU's have 120hz ULMB, is it possible to hack 3dvision support somehow? It's something I really miss about the Rog Swift being that I have the launch XB270HU.

Yes. But also no. The reason there is no 3d vision support is due to the response time on the lcd panel. So while you can get 3d vision working (I did it with an Nvidia 3D Vision 2 kit) there will be some crosstalk. The lower the refresh rate, the less crosstalk...as it allows the pixels more time to transition. However there are 2 problems with that. The GSYNC Module really doesn't like running 85Hz for extended periods of time (at least with 3d vision enabled). It develops a sort of image burn-in similar to Plasma displays, that appears to be temporary and fade out within 5 minutes or so. I'm not sure if this can result in any permanent damage or not.

The other problem is, it's hard to enforce 85Hz ULMB over 120Hz as you lose refresh rate controls to 3d Vision itself, which likes to select 120Hz instead of 100Hz or 85Hz. I did get some gaming in at 85Hz mode though, and it was about 90-95% perfect. The slightest bit of cross talk that was almost not noticeable at all. And it also works for 3d movies.

If there's a way to do a full refresh rate override/enforcement, then this can move into a more usable category. But for now, it's limited.

Hi HypterMatrix, could you tell me how you achieved 3D Vision on the XB270HU? My 3D Vision Kit 2 will arrive shortly and while I have access to a verified 3D Vision monitor, I'd like to give it a shot on the Acer too since it's my primary display. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, I doubt you can simply hook the sender + glasses up and configure as you would on a regular 3D Vision display?

Hey, did you ever find out how to do the 3D vision deal?
