Can’t eliminate Crosstalk - XL2546

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

Can’t eliminate Crosstalk - XL2546

Post by JR_Shoegazer » 06 Mar 2018, 15:08

I’ve tried using the Strobe Utility. At different values I didn’t really notice any change on screen. There’s no “blur” but the Crosstalk is so bad that’s its basically worse than traditional blur.

Current Settings:

DyAc - Premium
AMA - High
Persistence - 2.5
Crosstalk Area is on the 6th tick

In ToastyX:

HT - 2200
VT - 1500
Refresh rate: 120 Hz

I’ve tried all kinds of different variations of this setting and it always looks like I’m seeing double. Also on my current settings on the UFO test the whole image jumps/shakes/jitters. Can anyone explain how to fix this because I’ve searched for a fix, and have read everything I can but still can’t figure it out.

For XL2546 you want to use a much larger vertical total when using 120Hz. Basically about double vertical total of what 240Hz mode is.

However, one issue to fix first: The stutters in the motion test.
Are you saying www.testufo.com is stuttering badly at the moment?
Can you go to the www.testufo.com website and let me know if it says 60 frames per second or 120 frames per second?

At the time it was at 60 FPS but now I just reverted all the custom display settings and have it at 240 HZ.

How high for 120 Hz are we talking. I had VTs at 2000 at one point and that didn’t look right either.

Try lower persistence.
Btw why you're trying to get good 120hz mode out of 240hz monitor? Its supposed to be used at 240hz imo :)
Stuttering while using custom res/timings may be just frameskipping - be sure to test for it, when you experience stuttering/unsmoothness and using non-default timings (large VT etc).

I’m want a monitor with no blur or crosstalk. If I can get that at 240 Hz I’ll do it at 240 Hz, but I can’t really figure it out. I just got this monitor and if I can’t get it to do what I want I’m just going to return it.

You have to realize that with LCD monitors, this is not actually feasible right now :P There's always going to be some blur, and some crosstalk. We try to lower these as much as possible, but they're always going to be there. Well, unless you go back to a CRT monitor. Those have zero blur and zero crosstalk.

I realize that but in the example pictures for crosstalk mine is either the same as the worst possible crosstalk example or even worse, at every different setting I tried.

Crosstalk usually differs in top, middle, bottom of the screen (due to the nature of line-by-line frame scanout).
Can you provide pictures of XL2546 crosstalk testufo.com/crosstalk at 240hz? I havent seen XL2546 yet. Take pics of top, middle, bottom like this:

E.g. LG 27GK750F-B MBR 240hz

Got some XL2546 crosstalk pics from a Russlan forum user, they can be seen here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TzZTD5 ... v7mQR/view

I'd say its pretty similar to LG's crosstalk, but XL2546 definitely have much more obvious overshoot which overall makes picture look worse then LG's.

BENQ opens all the parameters to users. Theoretically, I don't think other models can do better strobe than a well optimized BENQ monitor with same panel.

Pulse width
Pulse phase
Overdrive in factory mode

VT
Rrefresh rate

I tried all the settings but still saw faint crosstalk. Strobe backlight requires very fast GtG to completely eliminate crosstalk. Maybe we need to count on the next GEN AUO panel as planed. (pushing the on/off, white>black response time on TN Film down from the current 5ms typical to 3ms before overdrive)

The only thing I haven't tried yet is to reduce the dynamic range. I don't know whether it can be done by users.
