DyAc 240hz Monitor

Post by w1shl1st » 18 Jun 2018, 12:50

I was wondering if you get the 240hz BenQ Monitor with DyAc can you use DyAc with 120hz 144hz and 240hz or if its only limited to the highest refresh rate? Thank you

I think you can use DyAc with any refresh rate from 60hz to 240hz, and customize it in 1hz increments (i.e. you can use 112hz, 169hz, 211hz,...)

Yes, Der Kuenringer is correct.

You can NOT use DyAC at any refresh rate lower than 97 hz ! At least not how you want to.
While you can "enable" it, it will NOT do single strobe flashing. Rather it will double strobe, which will cause a very uncomfortable double image effect that many people will find more disturbing than having DyAc disabled!

Only the ORIGINAL Z series monitors (the ones BEFORE the XL2730Z), which includes the XL2430T, (basically all the monitors with the MSTAR 8556T scaler that has blur reduction capability) can single strobe (with a few exceptions) from 60hz to 144hz in 1 hz increments (some exceptions; direct 50hz single strobe does NOT work (and strobing will fail to activate and can possibly damage the backlight), but usually the monitor will detect overcurrent and hard power cycle itself; a custom Vertical Total tweak can force 50hz single strobe but there are VERY FEW good reasons to do this); 76hz strobing does not work (Out of Range), and refreshrate VT tweaks at higher than 128hz will simply give an out of range error, meaning the default VT must be used (possibly with reduced vertical total e.g. 1098 VT) from 129hz-144hz.

I've been complaining REPEATEDLY for Benq to re-enable sub 97hz single strobing (meaning: 60hz-85hz or 50hz -85hz) single strobe on all their newer monitors, but they simply don't care. And because they don't care, they have lost me as a customer.

Alas, Falkentyne is correct too -- the strobe rates below ~100Hz varies from model to model.

If sub-100Hz single strobing is not important to you, it doesn't matter.

What's important is that most BenQ ZOWIE monitors (1080p version) can strobe in 1Hz increments above a threshold Hz (e.g. 75Hz or 97Hz minimum) and can double-strobe in 1Hz increments below a threshold Hz (e.g. 75Hz or 97Hz)
