Monitor motion blur (XL2540)

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

One way for me to help is a photographed motion test (instead of game photos). But you need to have precision control of the exact length of your camera exposure (e.g. some photographer skills) in order for me to have scientifically useful photographs for motion blur analysis -- especially with pursuit photography.

Do you see any odd left-edge or right-edge artifacts at http://www.testufo.com/ghosting .... that look like "ghosting" or "coronas" at LCD Motion Artifacts 101?
Yes I do see artifacts.

idk it looks blurry when looking at it but when tracking it, its not so blurry.

This is 960 pixels per second speed and UFO separation is 160 pixels.
I tried 1920speed but it looked really really bad.

If you perceive movement as blurry when you're not tracking it, but it's OK when you do track it with your eyes, it seems to me you're just getting the intended effect of high refresh rate. With a low refresh rate, movement that you don't track will look like a series of images rather than continuous motion. If you switch to a high refresh display, motion will look more like actual motion when you're not tracking it, and actual motion is naturally blurry. When you move your hand in front of your face and are not tracking it, it's extremely blurry. When you do track it, it's not.

To verify if this is what's happening here, switch your monitor to 60Hz. Make sure the "preferred refresh rate" in the nvidia panel 3D settings is set to "application controlled." Verify while in-game that the monitor's OSD says 60Hz. Does the "problem" go away then?

What monitor did you own before upgrading to 240Hz? Was it 60Hz? That could explain why you're freaked out by 240Hz motion :P

It was a 144hz monitor and it was really blurry. Then I thought it was the monitor until I got this one and it was blurry as well. It honestly felt like the blur stayed the same but, when not looking around everything felt more clear. I thought having a 240hz will reduce the blur but it didn't by much.
