Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

did anyone saw the vg279qm in person ? would be interesting to hear if it comes close to the xg270 ..
It's not Blur Busters Approved, so no.
Just so you know, it is best to refrain from making assumptions. Just because they (A) have not yet contacted me to certify the monitor; or (B) have not yet announced (if under NDA) -- doesn't mean it's known yet whether it's approved, approveable, or will later be approved, or not.

--> The best thing for you to do to contact your favourite monitor manufacturer -- to contact me at the email address at bottom of the Blur Busters Approved webpage. Tell them about blurbusters.com/blur-busters-approved.
--> I'd prefer readers post a separate thread such as "Asking ASUS to get the VG279QM Blur Busters Approved" -- the program is open to all manufacturers but out of courtesy this thread should stay on the ViewSonic topic since ViewSonic monitors this particular thread occasionally.

For this thread, let's stay on topic on ViewSonic -- this is the ViewSonic XG270 thread -- and ViewSonic monitors this thread.

Appreciate it. Thanks! ;)

Could they fix the crosshair in the new firmware? I've only used Type C which is the dot in the middle. It's not ceneted....

Nevermind, for some reason you can move where it is on the screen and I guess I had accidently moved it. not sure why you would want to move a crosshair off the middle XD

More people can confirm that is not centered ? Test all crosshairs please.

Some games/setups have crosshairs being offset from screen dead center
- Vertical positioning higher/lower due to big status bar at edge of screen
- Scaling algorithm behaviour (some algorithms create a noticeable 1-pixel sideways offset)
- Game imperfection or off-by-1 issue (imperfectly centered crosshairs in one of your games)
Etc.

Don't worry.
The crosshairs can be moved around.

Setup Menu -> Crosshair -> Type A/B/C -> Color Green/White/Yellow -> Use 4-way button to position the X-hairs

Place the crosshairs on your favourite pixel.

Place the crosshairs on your favourite pixel.
:D

Optionally, can be added a black edge to crosshair color ? the objective would be that it can be seen with both light and dark background.

Apart, there are some unanswered questions about XG270 on this topic, clear those doubts would be appreciated, thanks

Has the new firmware for the brighter blur reduction been released yet? Coming from the xl2546 the purexp at default seems much darker so I'm excited for the firmware update. I have the elite xp display software installed but haven't seen anything about a firmware update. From what I can gather March is the expected release but wanted to clarify. Also, once it's released a guide about how to install it would be very helpful! Thanks for updates chief!

The new firmware can control brightness during PureXP+ right? If want to go even darker, is this possible? Asking not because I want to eliminate crosstalk more, but I want it to be even darker in dark rooms.

2nd question, can 60hz single strobe still be done on XG270 in future updates? I mean maybe not in the next update but there is another thread worth of 3 pages asking for this feature alone... does XG270 have capabilities to do it at least?

All strobe backlights in humankind can do 60 Hz single-strobe. It's just simply an arbitrary firmware coding limitation.

There are no upcoming firmwares (to my knowledge) to do hardware single-strobe. You'll still need to use software BFI to get defacto 60Hz single-strobe.

Basically a simultaneous combination of hardware 120Hz PureXP+ strobing, combined with software-based BFI to black-out every other strobe. To create a defacto 60Hz hardware single-strobe. Not all monitors behave well with that (creating artifacts or color depth loss) but the XG270 behaves beautifully with software-based BFI. It looks just as good as hardware-based 60Hz PureXP (as if it existed).

As i am looking for a new PC, what parts are more important to give this monitor a good use? in other words what's the minimum i should get? (i guess main part is GPU, but just to be sure).

Also, any idea how long does rtings take to do a review?

Thanks.

Has the firmware been released? Every time I log into the viewsonic software 2.0 beta I haven't seen anything saying new firmware available even when I connect the USB c cable. I have seen the program fail to close properly but haven't seen any specific area to even check for firmware updates. I really enjoy the monitor but the lack of bright low blur leaves me wanting more!
