XG258Q Motion Blur at 240hz???

Hi All

I recently purchased my first true gaming PC (Ryzen 5 3600 and 2070S) with a 240hz monitor.

Coming from Xbox I could see the difference in smoothness and responsiveness but I feel like there is a ton of motion blur or ghosting in game.

The tests on this website look pretty good but in games like Fortnite when I'm moving around everything looks blurry! Looking around from left to right or even spinning around it's just blurry.

I also can't tell the difference with Motion Blur tuned on or off. (I have it tuned off btw)

Is this normal, like my eyes playing tricks on me or is there something wrong with my setup?

Are you getting ghosting or motion blur? Although the causes overlap partially, they have distint differences.

Motion blur
Symmetric blurring in both leading/trailing edges of moving objects
Motion blur is directly proportional to frame rate.
Look at www.testufo.com
60fps has 4x more motion blur than 240fps
120fps has 2x more motion blur than 240fps
This assumes mainly MPRT motion blurring, with GtG being insignificant.

Ghosting / Coronas
Asymmetric blurring (like ghost-behind effects)
If you have ghosting problems like those in LCD Motion Artifacts try adjusting AMA Overdrive settings in monitor menus to around AMA 60 or AMA 80 for high-Hz operation. Use www.testufo.com/ghosting while adjusting AMA settings on an ASUS monitor.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have uploaded a photo of when I’m in game and spinning around from left to right. This is pretty much what I see when looking around in game.

Cheers
