XL2546K dyac?

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

XL2546K dyac?

Post by Kothicc » 18 Mar 2021, 03:09

Hello everyone I'm new here but not new to BENQ monitors.
At the moment I play with a XL2430T and wanted to try the brand new XL2546K as my actual monitor starts to feel "old".
I play games like Escape from Tarkov and Apex and used succesfully the blur reduction with VT tweak. On Apex I can easily get more than 200fps, but I can't say that in Tarkov where my FPS drops from 120 to 70/80 fps. My concern is, will I get benefits from this new monitor even if my fps drops that low? Could anyone give me some advice? Thank you

Sorry for my bad english kek hope you'll understand my doubts

If you're dropping below 100 FPS, it's probably best to just disable DyAc. Keep in mind this monitor supports adaptive sync (Freesync), which will work on both Nvidia and AMD video cards, so you can just use Gsync or Freesync instead, for a more smooth gaming experience.
(Freesync premium (Gsync compatible) does not seem to be advertised on the Benq website).

Also note that, with some caveats, the XL2546K (and the XL2746S) support custom refresh rates beyond the defaults of 100hz, 120hz, 1440hz and 240hz. 100hz and 120hz support a very high Vertical Total tweak of 2250, completely removing ALL STROBE CROSSTALK! 144hz supports VT 1650, removing 95% of all the strobe crosstalk. You can also create refresh rates some other panels have used, like 165hz and 180hz. (165hz is stable with a VT of 1420. Higher than VT 1420 causes some sync issues, higher than 1485 is not recommended). 180hz supports VT of 1500 without problems (no idea why 165hz acts this way, but the 165hz issue affects 150hz-175hz). You can create refresh rates to match your game's average FPS for lower input lag and a more pleasing experience.

Unfortunately, while you can still create 75hz and 85hz refresh rates, anything lower than 100hz will DOUBLE STROBE, so it's probably best to disable DyAc completely if you are below 100hz.

Will I get anyway good performance in terms of blur motion from the monitor considering these fps drops or should I look for something else? I mean, in CS:GO i'm gonna get 200 fps+ most likely, but not in Tarkov for example, is it worth to buy this monitor when in some cases im gonna have to disable DyAc technology or should i look for something else?
