It looks like it solves a problem with darker/dimmer image when using LightBoost 10% or 50%.

External utilities to modify the display colors, have often been used.

You can adjust gamma in NVIDIA Control Panel. But launching a game often resets gamma. What makes this app stand out, is the hotkeys allowing you to adjust while inside a game.

Be noted -- certain cheat engines as PunkBuster may block some apps like these because they detect unauthorized keyboard hooks that might be used for giving you bot-like abilities. However, I'm not sure if they whitelisted this app. I've seen certain color-adjustment apps get blocked during competitive play (which is sometimes a bit annoying -- since gamma adjustments are often built into many models of monitors).

Some games have built-in gamma adjustment
That doesn't really solve the problem (low maximum luminance in lightboost) but it boosts the average luminance at the expense of color accuracy. Not really an issue for gaming, but keep in mind that if you overdo it, things will appear washed out/hazy
