VRR STROBING Monitors List

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

239fps at 9.00 ppf can only result in 1483pps. You can do all of them at ∼960pps if u want. 120fps shot is more important than 239fps for vrr strobing.

The main point is to make your footage look as close as possible to what your eyes see when tracking. Its ok if its a bit blurry, it should be.

If u can't get anything good than maybe do a slowmo again, with frogs at 120fps this time.

Dat 240 hz KSF phophor monitor looking nice though! I actually don't mind the red fringing, what bothers me to no end is this weird artifact that looks like crosstalk on the XG. It looks great above 200 hz but below 200 hz it doesn't look as good :/ Hopefully we will get more shots of this MSI.

I know it's not an apples to apples comparison but here's the short slow mo I made for the XG

@discorz do we have a VRR + backlight strobing tier list?

Actually you can get away with vrr strobing on XG if instead of 270Hz u set refresh rate to anything that is close to or bellow game frame rate. E.g. if game runs at 140fps just use it at 144Hz and limit the frame rate like in normal vrr situation. As said earlier XG should automatically do single strobe vrr for any refresh rate you set your monitor to. Asus's implementation is still kinda usable within 30-ish Hz fluctuation. Plus the OD modification. Only crosstalk stays the same.

That slowmo footage look similar to you previous attempts. Dam too bad your camera can't do better quality. Some things are still visible in these pursuits.

In my head on tier list all would be in E or F category :). Until we get adjustable strobe duration, strobe phase, overdrive, with 60-max range, single strobe, good crosstalk, bright enough, or all of these tuned well out of the box, there is nothing taking A class.

Even if they are E and F category one still might be better than the other. My Samsung S20 can only go so far for a $700 phone :(

@Discorz I have to ask what do you think are the best 1440p strobing monitors right now.
I grew up in the times of CRTs and since first picking up a Lightboost BenQ monitor (maybe the 2410? back in the day) I have always gamed with blur reduction / ULMB etc. One of the best monitors of those early generations was the Asus PG248Q which I ended up dumping for my ageing but beloved XL2730Z (TN). 7 years old now and I haven't found something that can beat it's high clarity and brightness (luminance @ ~190) in blur reduction mode.
Every new monitor I try, I am disappointed with. Usually because of a noticeable blur or ghosting. This basically writes of all VA monitors for me even if they feature BFI/Strobing (I have tried the new Samsungs) and pretty much all IPS that aren't amazingly fast. Are there any IPS now that can really be comparable to ULMB gaming on a TN screen? Ideally I'd like a 1440p res on a 32" monitor with VRR + ULMB or similar that can be activated simulatenously if possible.
Apologies for the long and loaded question! Is it a case of waiting another 6 months (always seems the case with monitors!).

Thank you

FI32Q-X just got released. Wonder how good the VRR strobing implementation is

Gigabyte very likely uses same implementation for all of their monitors. They only modify pulse durations for different models. Longer durations in expense of sharpness for premium models to bump up the brightness. One example is FI32Q vs M32Q.

M27Q X is very cheap now in EU. Cheapest 27" 1440 240Hz IPS yet, at 510-560€, that would be around $470 US. It's not available in US tho.

Looks like the M27Q X is finally available

Maybe it's been available in the US for a few weeks now but I just recently saw it on sale. I haven't seen anyone review the backlight strobing but I hope it's equal or better than the Gigabyte M32Q which hardware unboxed said was better than ELMB sync
