Enabling ULMB on my Dell S2417DG - Need Help

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

Enabling ULMB on my Dell S2417DG - Need Help

Post by tayzedd » 22 Apr 2022, 11:58

I have had this monitor for a while and it works great, but, i've recently learned about the motion blur features of nicer monitors like the Zowies and Acers, and was thinking about purchasing one of them, when I learned my monitor already has that feature. BUT, its greyed out :(

I don't know how to enable it. Maybe I'm missing a driver?

the person in this thread seems to think so, but it's a 4 year old post:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/fo ... y-enabled/

Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it, thanks.

Thank you I did that and got it working! Sadly though, I have to lower the refresh rate to 120hz.

Is it true that ULMB works best when the framerate matches the refresh rate? I can normally get high 200s and low 300s in FPS in csgo. I tried to cap the framerate at 121 in game and it didn't feel as clear or clean as when the framerate was uncapped. it felt more choppy. any thoughts?

Yes, ULMB works best with framerate=refresh rate. The best result is with VSync On (assuimng framerate never dips below refresh rate) but it adds input lag.

Other methods are (less input lag but not as smooth as Vsync):
-Scanline sync with RTSS
-Framerate capping by 0.01 below refresh rate
-Generating A LOT MORE frames than refresh rate
-Buiyng monitor which is cappable of ULMB and Gsync/Freesync at the same time

Just search this forum - every method is explained.
