Take a look at page 3, where there are some off screen videos recorded in slow motion to demonstrate the differences between different refresh rates, vsync on/off, and G-Sync.
Even G-Sync @ 144Hz vs vsync at 144Hz shows substantial improvement, as it seems to eliminate a lot of the judder that results from uneven frame latency.

Hmmm...I did misinterpret the G-Sync vs. 144Hz vsync comparison. He doesn't actually make mention of the framerate of the game, so it's likely it's not actually rendering at 144fps in this case, which is what introduces the vsync judder.
