Has anyone tried Assetto Corsa?

Talk about NVIDIA G-SYNC, a variable refresh rate (VRR) technology. G-SYNC eliminates stutters, tearing, and reduces input lag. List of G-SYNC Monitors.

Has anyone tried Assetto Corsa?

Post by Cooknn » 22 Jul 2014, 03:06

My new G-Sync board will be here tomorrow :D Hoping it works okay with my primary title, Assetto Corsa. The game allows us to select our resolution/refresh rate in game. Currently running 1920x1080@144Hz. Just a little concerned that it remains locked at whatever I select. Is there something like Fraps that I can see while in game that will show what my refresh rate is? The game has an fps indicator built in.

Also, I couldn't tell from watching the Henry Linn video on nVidia's website which ports got eliminated by the upgrade. Will I still be using my DVD-D cable? It looks like the only port available is HDMI...

If you're running with gsync, it will show Mode GSYNC when you press the menu button. To see and check the instantaneous refresh rate, yes you need fraps or something similar.

The only remaining ports after the upgrade are displayport and power. The kit comes with a displayport cable. Your card has displayport so don't worry.

offtopic: what voltage is your 4790k at? are you running all four cores at 4.7ghz?

Thanks for the quick reply, flood! I'm running 1.295V and all four cores are rock solid at 4.7GHz. I initially thought I'd use 4.8 (1.315V) but even though I pass the stress tests it gets too hot for a 24/7.

With the latest version of geforce experience and shadowplay you can display the FPS without recording, similar to FRAPS.

Thanks, sharknice :D Do you know of a way to check the refresh rate of my monitor while in game?

If you're using the GSYNC kit it will tell you if you press the menu button on the monitor.

It will give me dynamic refresh rate? I just want proof that it's actually working in my game ;)

Nope. It will just tell you the maximum refresh rate if GSYNC is active, or the current refresh rate if it is off.
But I would assume whatever the frame rate shadowplay is giving you is what is being sent to the monitor.

I play the hell out of Assetto Corsa! Works GREAT! There seems to be a bit of engine based stutter when there is a lot of smoke though. Other than that, GSync is smooth sailing. I play anywhere from 90-144 fps normally and Gsync has been working flawlessly.

SWEET :D Thanks, PoWn3d_0704! I'm pumped now! The stutter you are experiencing could be related to CPU usage. Try using these command line switches in Steam to give the game more resources. This is for my 4790K. If you have less than four cores you'll need to adjust.

Launch Options (in Steam): -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -high
