Gsync & borderless screen - stutter when alt+tab

Post by jakfear863 » 12 Feb 2023, 13:25

Greetings

I've had to create an account because I can't find any solution and I don't know who to ask for help.

When I use Gsync with the borderless window option enabled and play certain games in borderless window, if I alt+tab and go to any window, it stutters for a second or two.

The strange thing is that it didn't happen with my previous monitor: MSI Optix MAG274QRF but it happens with the current one: AORUS FI27Q-P.

I tried using DDU and reinstalling drivers but it didn't help.

I know it's the Gsync because when I disable the borderless window option and it doesn't appear as active in the game, this problem disappears.

What can I do to solve this?

Thank you very much for your time

Pd: I'm sorry if this is not the correct place to post my problem.

Start by first ruling out MPO:

Hi, first of all thanks for your reply.

I have tried the solution you mentioned but unfortunately no luck.
What else can I do?

Thank you for your time.

If it's not MPO, it may be a difference in the factory EDID and/or firmware behavior on your current monitor model vs your old one. I remember similar alt + tab issues being reported for other FreeSync models in the past.

What OS are you running? If it's Windows 11, there's an option in newer versions that you could try disabling. If you have Win 11, let me know, and I'll give you the location.

Other than that, the only other thing I can think off-the-top-of-my-head is to enable G-SYNC for fullscreen mode only in the NVCP, and then apply borderless/windowed G-SYNC mode selectively via Nvidia Inspector (if you're not doing it already).

Instructions for that are in entry #5 of my Closing FAQ here:
