low latency mode / fps limit

Talk about NVIDIA G-SYNC, a variable refresh rate (VRR) technology. G-SYNC eliminates stutters, tearing, and reduces input lag. List of G-SYNC Monitors.

low latency mode / fps limit

Post by Anonymous893125 » 03 Mar 2023, 17:07

did make another post but it got deleted :D

https://blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101- ... ttings/14/

"If an in-game or config file FPS limiter is not available, RTSS is prohibited from running, a manual framerate limit is not required, and framerate exceeds refresh rate:
Set “Low Latency Mode” to “Ultra” in the Nvidia Control Panel. When combined with G-SYNC + V-SYNC, this setting will automatically limit the framerate (in supported games) to ~59 FPS @60Hz, ~97 FPS @100Hz, ~116 FPS @120Hz, ~138 FPS @144Hz, ~224 FPS @240Hz, etc."

so it says here basically first line; if there isnt an fps limiter in game available also rtss cant run , and also a manual framerate isnt required ,AND framerate exceeds refresh rate ? im sorry but what ? makes no sense

so we dont need to use an fps lock with this for 3 below max refresh rate if the low latency setting does the cap for us right ?

I believe they mean to say if none of those options are viable to use, then you should instead set Low Latency Mode to Ultra, as that will limit the Frame Rate below the Maximum.

Just some things of note:
If the game has Nvidia reflex you can set that to on and turn off Low Latency Mode.

Now the thing about low latency v-sync is its a great setting for casual gaming, but it may not be good for Esports as some games will update per frame which means less FPS = more input latency.
So a frame capped game which updates mouse movement every frame will effectively bottleneck the Polling rate of the mouse.

So it is ONLY if somehow (I have never experienced this) a framelimiter (NVCP, RTSS, ingame) does work that you set NULL?
what framelimter is best to use?
-NVCP
-RTSS
-In Game

Optimal settings will be:
Gsync ON
Vsynv ON
framelimiter below monitors refreshrate.

Then we dont need Nvidia Ultra Low Latency nor Reflex ingame?
