Those rainbow bars happened rarely when I first started using G-sync, but it is happening much more often now. Since it has been reported by quite a few users, I suspect it is a normal side affect of G-sync initializing. One thing I have noticed is that it seems to pop up maybe a quarter second after a game goes fullscreen. It's very noticable when starting up Saints Row 4 since the intro video starts playing before the rainbow flash occurs.
