I'm pretty sure you will see this same behaviour as well if you get a solid frame rate that never goes over 30 fps when in no vsync mode.
As you see, I was stood in a corner to simulate a very steady frame rate. But if I moved around , the frame rate may have gone over 30 fps at times. Basically the frame rate will stutter from 15-30 fps a lot, but regardless it's still either rapidly flicking from 30 to 15 fps. I'll upload a video of me walking around in that scene with the gsync enabled as well later

Try another game, it might be limited to Metro 2033.

No, it's every game. Honestly, this is how any kind of sync works, it has to work this way. This is why triple buffering and adaptive vsync exist. Someone else will be able to explain it better than I can.
You can see the same thing. disable vsync and gsync, then go into a game and adjust the graphics settings (with DSR if you have to) to the point where you are running at about 20-25 fps. then exit the game, enable gsync or vsync, then go back and stand in that exact spot where you got that steady frame rate, you too will lock to 15 fps

I can't replicate it in Arma 3 or DayZ, which in some areas and servers will consistently give less than 30 fps. This is on the PG278Q.

OK, I don't have ARMA 3 or dayz. Do you have dying light?aeliusg wrote:I can't replicate it in Arma 3 or DayZ, which in some areas and servers will consistently give less than 30 fps. This is on the PG278Q.
What other demanding games you have?
Re: Question on Gsync Framerates, please help!
Nothing at the moment. I had Total War: Attila but I uninstalled. Incidentally, I'm using the Steam overlay frame counter. But I have to say, I don't notice as drastic a drop as from 30 to 15 fps would be, so maybe FRAPS is the issue here?fenderjaguar wrote:OK, I don't have ARMA 3 or dayz. Not that it really matter, but it's not FRAPS, it's RTTS It's very accurate and precise, believe me.
It don't have to be that much of a demaning game, when you can enable 4x DSR or even 4x4 SSAA (with some games) from nvidia inspector?
Here's a video of me walking around and going slightly over 30 fps at times, to give a better idea:

Is this 15 fps lock a universal issue with G-Sync, has anyone else experienced it?

Re: Question on Gsync Framerates, please help!
Confirmed this issue I mentioned is now fixed by enabling gsync and forcing vsync off on the new drivers
Re: Question on Gsync Framerates, please help!
But I thought G-Sync was supposed to double/triple frames when displaying anything <30 FPS?
