Currently testing ASUS pg258q for a month, Need suggestions

I've had a Dell S2716dg , 1440p 144hz gsync for awhile now. Moved up from the good ol Asus vg24qe 1080p 144hz non gsync.
I definitely prefer 24-25' 1080p as a pure FPS gamer. I have a i5-7600k OCed on air to 5.2ghz with a 1080 GPU. Wish I had hyperthreading or an i7..... Anyways...
Currently mainly playing pubg and Ring, but nothing set in stone. There doesn't seem to be a 24-25' 1080p 144hz gsync IPS? Or non IPS?
Well I decided to pick up a used ASUS pg258q to try for a month and return. Received it yesterday. Set it up as noted on tft central. OD normal. Followed the same gsync guide, in game pubg Max fps 240-3, at 237.
Loved it, but only one evening of gaming in. Plenty of weeks to go.
My original intention was to Target a steady 144hz 144fps gsync experience (well 144-3 =141 technically.). Given this is a 240hz monitor, what is my play here? Realistically, never getting close to 237fps in pubg at least.
My two thoughts are:
1. Keep the Max fps 237 and play as is knowing I'll never hit it.
2. Choose a lower , more realistic max FPS to keep it always steady/pegged consistently. I'd have to confirm what that is, let's just guess 144?
Hopefully I'm making sense, probably a moot point. What other thoughts or ideas or suggestions do you have?
