Flickers on unsupported G-Sync Monitor

Post by emhelmark » 20 Nov 2019, 21:29

My monitor is hx240s and having flickers on apex/pubg lobby when I use G-Sync 101 optimal settings (G-sync + NVCP v-sync(on) + null(on) + rtss 141 cap + in-game v-sync(off)).

It also flickers on Dark Souls Remastered(a game capped @ 60fps) every time so my guess it maybe most of my single player 60fps games will flicker too despite me not testing.

Anyway regarding pubg/apex which I mostly play and focus competitively with low competitive settings. G-Sync101 optimal settings seems to be hit and miss, sometimes it doesn't flicker throughout the game and just flickers when I get to lobby. Sometimes there's in-game flicker which is annoying but I expected that since my monitor is not G-Sync compatible(even NVCP says lol)

Currently I am using G-Sync(off) + NVCP V-sync(on) + null(on) + rtss 141 cap + in-game v-sync off on most of my games and its pretty smooth.

I happen to experience using the g-sync101 optimal when it didn't flicker and I am sure that its the best experience and makes me want to buy a monitor(lol as if I have money)

But since my monitor is cheapo asian brand so nope.

Anyway what would be the best settings I could use? I really want the best response/performance/latency especially on apex/pubg/dota2 which it matters. Or is my current settings above okay?

edit:

I forgot, so my specs are:

Ryzen 5 3600 @stock and boosting 4.2Ghz
b450m pro4 (latest agesa)
2x16gb 3200cl16
gtx 1070
game on ssd
win10 1909
