ViewSonic XG270 - G-SYNC black screen issue [VRR Range Fix]

Enabling Adaptive Sync on my XG270 sometimes causes my screen to turn black for a second when gaming.
This happened most often in Destiny 2 and Borderlands 3, I did not get a black screen while playing Overwatch.
I suspect this happens during <60fps frame drops since Overwatch never drops that low, whereas Bl3 is quite demanding and it happens often enough.
Google suggests to use CRU and turn VRR off at 40, however the XG270 already defaults to 48.
Others reported this to be a Nvidia Driver issue that was non existent pre Driver Version 399, but I do not want to roll back that far.
I have G-SYNC set to Full Screen and limited fps to 237 through control panel. Im running this monitor of a 1070.
This makes G-SYNC pretty much unusable currently, what can I do to fix this?
