G-Sync at non native resolution

Talk about NVIDIA G-SYNC, a variable refresh rate (VRR) technology. G-SYNC eliminates stutters, tearing, and reduces input lag. List of G-SYNC Monitors.

G-Sync at non native resolution

Post by Scriba » 20 Mar 2020, 02:21

I'm using in some games a non native resolution (1440 x 1080) with gpu scaling (stretched) on my xn253 for competitive reasons (more vertical FOV).

If I open the monitor Info I see, that G-Sync is not working as soon as I start the game. If I start the same game at native resolution (1920 x 1080) G-Sync is working properly.

Any suggestion how I can solve this? (Input lag shouldn't be much higher).

Thanks for help in advance.

and for people that don't believe (as I hear that often) that stretching resolution can increase vertical FOV (depends on the game), watch this ingame screenshot.

Alright I got one step further. If I set the custom resolution in cru G-Sync is working or at least the monitor info shows it.

The thing is when I have heavy FPS drops (from 141 to like 70) there are still some huge stutters. May I should teak the cru settings? I just used the native resolution settings and changed the horizontal pixels.

Thread can be closed, I'm happy with my custom resolution now (was going over regedit).
