Gsync stutters 100-119 only

So i have a 3080 and a cx48 oled.

New firmware fixed gsync black screen flickering but if the fps is between 100-119 it stutters badly and i can see duplicated or skipped frames. Any idea why it might do it? Or how to fix?

Also checked and it happens while strafing so not input related.

Happens in all games can simulate with fps cap in game or rivatuner 96 feels fine at 100 its barely noticable 115 its brutal fine at vsync cap.

Normally, in VRR range, frame present is in relative-sync to photon time.

This is considered a VRR bug. Hopefully they fix it. Unless it was a workaround to solve a worse issue (e.g. black flicker).

Thanks for response big fan btw! Bought by samsung s27a 950d because of you back in the day still have it :)

Im a little unclear on what you are saying could you elaborate

I feel the progressive worsening of the stutter must lead to a way to find the issue. Sounds like a variable is off or something but i have no idea how they program gsync or if it even has variables.

I'd troubleshoot this myself, but while I have a 48CX, I still haven't been able to get a hold of a 3080 (and oh how I've tried ).

FYI, there are currently G-SYNC issues with the 3080 on the LG firmware-side (possibly even with the latest fix apparently), and G-SYNC Compatible issues Nvidia driver-side the past couple of releases, so there may or may not be a fix for your issue yet, IF it is indeed due to either.

Yes, the VRR stutter bug could be driver-based rather than television-based. This is probably a waiting game for a vendor fix.

Here is a video of the stutter it seems to also be tearing at the top of the screen

Note the time stamps

I've seen VRR bugs create stutter on both display-side and driver-side -- either way, this certainly needs to be fixed.

As a workaround, one will have to cap framerates to about 99fps or thereabouts, though that's certainly not optimal --

Having the same issue on my CX48 with a 3090. Certain games seem okay, others like COD MW are totally unplayable. 120 frames feels fine, the second the frames drop below the refresh rate, the game becomes an unplayable mess. I have had the issue once or twice on my desktop also. The fact that certain games are okay makes me believe it is a driver issue and not related to the TV, although maybe its a combination of both.

I spent the entire day yesterday trying to troubleshoot it. Nothing we can do. What seemed to fix it for me was to run in 4:2:0 chroma and use 8bit instead of 10bit. It seemed to be fine then. Do that and report back if the issue resolves itself for you. I want to see if this truly is a workaround for now or the issue just fixed itself on my end temporarily.

I know all too well the feeling of thinking you fixed something just for it to rear its ugly head again, crushing all your hopes and dreams of ever finding a fix.
