Dell Alienware with/without Gsync?!

Talk about NVIDIA G-SYNC, a variable refresh rate (VRR) technology. G-SYNC eliminates stutters, tearing, and reduces input lag. List of G-SYNC Monitors.

Dell Alienware with/without Gsync?!

Post by xtml_ » 25 Feb 2021, 06:29

Hello guys!
I am currently using the dell alienware aw2521hf monitor and I have 3 response time modes. Fast that gives 4 ms GTG and has no ghosting or pixelation. But I also have "super fast" and "extreme" which give a lot of ghosting and pixelation, but have 2ms GTG and 1ms GTG responses respectively. However, if I turn on Gsync in the monitor and without any settings I turn on the game, there are no distortions in the extreme mode and you can play safely. Since Gsync adds 1ms delay, it is probably more profitable for me to play extreme (1ms GTG) + Gysync instead of fast (4 ms GTG) without Gsync. I would just like to add that I only play fps games like CS: GO, Valorant, COD. Please help me, as specialists, what I should choose, so that I can play as well as possible. I'll add that I'm constantly over 240fps, so I don't want to freeze frames so that gsync syncs everything to me, I just turn it on to fix ghosting and pixelation.
Best regards,

If you are playing at over 240hz then Gsync isn't even active so it doesn't make any difference.

G2G response time is pixel transition/blurring, the ms isn't input lag its pixel response, I think you're confusing pixel response ms with input lag combining it with saying Gsync adds 1ms?

If you can put response mode higher without any downsides then play with that, but pretty much all screens on the higher or highest setting ends up with artefacts and other issues, the default response setting is usually fine.

Yeah, but gsync eliminate totally overshoot on extreme mod (highets). So the question is: use fast mode or extreme, but with gsync?

Already answered your question... If you can put it on the highest setting without it having any noticeable downsides for you, then use it..

You can test it on TestUfo as well. https://www.testufo.com/ghosting
