Dell S2721DGF 165hz causing random micro stutters in games?

Talk about NVIDIA G-SYNC, a variable refresh rate (VRR) technology. G-SYNC eliminates stutters, tearing, and reduces input lag. List of G-SYNC Monitors.

Dell S2721DGF 165hz causing random micro stutters in games?

Nvidia settings are max fps limit to 163,V-sync ON/off ingame

From what I noticed the there's noticably less frametime spikes when using 144hz then 165hz.

3080/9900k/16gb ddr4/970 evo SSD/750rmx driver 460.89

Is it possible 165hz is not working correctly?Heard most monitors are "oc'd" to 165hz and its not actually native like 144hz.I can see the difference because I have a frametime graph up but is it even possible for such a thing to happen?

I tested in WOW and stood afk in 1 spot.Tried both 165hz/144hz and there was a difference as 144hz had smoother frametime overall.

Off 144hz works then just use 144hz. I don't understand why they bother to make monitors that are 20hz more when you get to those numbers. You won't notice any difference.

It's the same reason they have "extreme" OD setting probably.Realistically no one is EVER going to use it because of the massive overshoot but hey...whatever to pump those spec numbers.

Still kinda wierd why 165hz would cause more frequent micro stutters then144hz tho.My previous monitor was 144hz too so I don't mind using 144hz again and yea there's barely a visible difference between 144-165hz.

There isn't much of a difference between 144hz and 240hz either to be honest. Obviously there is but you'd have to have two monitors set up next to each other to tell the difference. Like you said, it's all about numbers and selling points.

I can't imagine the issue being your cpu or gpu so I'd imagine that due to the fact that the monitor is overclocked rather than native or standard 165hz then maybe when the frames go over 144hz the gsync isn't engaging properly and you're back on freesync or freesync off.

When ever I saw 165hz monitors I remember that they were listed as overclocked. I wouldn't worry about it and forget about 165hz. Put it this way do you see any difference between 144fps and 120fps. Nope. You'll only ever notice 20fps difference when the higher framerate is 90fps.

You've got the best refresh rate worth buying in my opinion, anything above that isn't really worth it, 144fps is plenty and you end up having to cap the frames anyway to stop them from dropping so much on a 240hz monitor. I have one.

Think I found a bug with this monitor or the game in question. For some reason the Hz reverts back to 165hz after switching windowed>fullscreen>Windowed in this specific game. The hell.Only game that does this.

I think I found what the issue was.I think my 3080 is faulty.Issue doesn't happen on 1080p 144hz but on 1440p the moment gpu usage reaches 80% they start to randomly happen.
