GPU Scaling: FPS = Hz, Display Scaling: HZ = FPS * 2 (LFC mode?)

Talk about NVIDIA G-SYNC, a variable refresh rate (VRR) technology. G-SYNC eliminates stutters, tearing, and reduces input lag. List of G-SYNC Monitors.

Hey Blur Busters,

Wondering if you have seen this or can explain it, monitor is the VG279QM GYSNC compatible.

https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Displays-Des ... g-VG279QM/

When using Adaptive-Sync I noticed the following ingame.
  • When using GPU Scaling: FPS = Monitor Hz
  • When using Display Scaling: Monitor HZ = FPS * 2 (LFC mode?)
I mention low framerate compensation (LFC) because it's the only thing that sort of describes the refresh rate doubling and I assume buffers doubling?

Nvidia GTX 1050, Driver 511.79

Yes, it's an LFC behaviour when Hz is a multiple of framerate (for a monitor framerate indicator).

For Adaptive Sync variants (FreeSync, HDMI Forum VRR, VESA Adaptive Sync, and NVIDIA's "Compatible" flavor of G-SYNC) -- graphics drivers are responsible for buffering for repeat-refreshes (fps x 2, fps x 3, fps x 4, etc). It may be that the graphics drivers have slightly different LFC behavior depending on whether the GPU is doing the scaling.

Thanks, I might ask nvidia support to see what they think, technically performance hasn't changed other than the scaler. Well unless they can prove otherwise.
