I'm getting sudden color calibration issues (orange tint) and g-sync stutter issues with my current dell sd2716dg monitor and it's a TN panel so I want to upgrade to something similar that's IPS and still has good G-sync. Preferably not Dell brand.
I don't know what the difference is between the G-sync on the dell sd2716dg and G-sync compatible on newer monitors. Which one is better and does it matter for stutter issues? Thanks.

I've used the s2716dg for years (what I think you meant) and also looking at upgrades. It depends on what you'll be doing.
For gaming, it seems the general consensus right now is probably avoid 360hz monitors except the Acer XV252QF viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8580. Pixel response times are not ready for 360hz. I just scanned 100 pages of that acer thread and got a good feel for it. Best for fast twitch games. BenQ Zowie and Viewsonic xg2431 (the blur busters approved one) seem the other best of the best. Slightly less responsive but better clarity, maybe like for Counterstrike. The Viewsonic has newer gen IPS panels.
But those are all 1080p 24"-25", a big downgrade from the Dell when not gaming. There is a 27" version of the xg2431 I am looking at. Still 1080p but hopefully identical in spec to the smaller version as it is blur busters approved also.
Coming from a G-sync monitor, a "G-sync compatible" monitor can perform identical mostly. You just have to do your homework on the specific model and make sure all functionality is there. What do you think about Alienware AW3420DW Lunar Light?
I heard some good stuff about it but couldn't try it out as our shops here still don't order them.
