Overclocking PG248QP non DCS from 360hz to 480hz

Talk about overclocking displays at a higher refresh rate. This includes homebrew, 165Hz, QNIX, Catleap, Overlord Tempest, SEIKI displays, certain HDTVs, and other overclockable displays.

Overclocking PG248QP non DCS from 360hz to 480hz

Post by daviddave1 » 06 Apr 2024, 16:13

On a Latency and Gaming Discord there are rumors that u can overclock the ASUS PG248QP in the non-DCS mode that usually is max 360hz 8bit 1080P to 480hz 8bit 1080P. U need to up the hz from 360hz to 480hz AND lower the porch settings the rumors say.
Unfortunately there are no screenshots available with the cru settings to pull this of.

On this forum evmadic posted *without a source though. The following:

Here are the bandwidth connections that will rely on DSC for the newest displays:

DP 1.4 max bandwidth: 32.4 Gbps
HDMI 2.1 max bandwidth: 48 Gbps
DP 2.1 max bandwidth: 80 Gbps

1920x1080, 480hz, 8-bit color: 29.86 Gbps
DP 1.4 - no
HDMI 2.1 - no
DP 2.1 - no
This suggests that DP 1.4 should manage 480hz 1080P with DCS disabled.
This is how I try to make the resolution

This is the starting position Image

When I lower the porch settings the screen goes black when I enable the new resolution.

I am starting to think that 480hz without DCS is not possible and that the stats evmadic provided are not correct.
The new Zowie 540hz 1080P 8 bit color has DCS enabled on HDMI 2.1 Why would Zowie enable DCS if HDMI 2.1 can manage 48 Gbps? Its not needed.

I hope the rumors are not rumors and that its actually possible. How someone can give me a hint to make it work!

Guys, I used https://www.kramerav.com/bandwidth-calculator/ to calculate all the numbers I posted in the LG thread. That's my source. If the calculations exceeded the bandwidth limitations for a given connection, then I marked it off. Pretty straightforward unless you think the calculator is wrong.

Tnx for replying!

I'm diving in viewtopic.php?t=9195 atm. I hope the answer is lying here to overclock the pg248qp with DCS disabled.
